The band has announced a "reunion" tour with Roth, but with Eddie's teenage son Wolfgang on bass. I probably won't go, because I read horror stories about Eddie's drinking during the 2004 tour with Sammy.
Plus, I can't imagine VH without Michael Anthony's backing vocals. Eddie and Michael together on backing vocals were almost as much a part of the VH sound as Eddie's guitar.
The band had a hard edge during the Dave years, partly because of Dave's personality and partly because of Ted Templeman's production. With Sammy, each album sounded more like pop, partly because the production took the rawness off the guitar sound. I always wanted to hear the guitar sound more like the first album. On another board, one VH fan said the Roth era's theme was sex and the Hagar era's theme was love. ("How do you know when it's love?" When he arrives at your door carrying a basket with no hands...)
