Which never really made sense to me. Why does the government need to know what vehicle I own. Vehicle registration is nothing more than a tax.

Licensing drivers is a little different than licensing gun owners. That pesky 2nd amendment. While I have argued that getting a drivers license is a right, it isn't enumerated and demands no special protection from the government.
