Vandalism and burglary in the 7th District

Is anyone out there aware of all the vehicles that have been broken into in the 7th District/Colton's Point area. Personally, I have had four instances with my own vehicles. Two broken windows, one time when the truck was not locked and my dogs chases the person/people away and one instance a few days ago when hubby's truck alarm went off. Now I hear that houses are getting broken into, too. An elderly man who had suffered a stroke was recently a victim, and the person/people placed a bag over his head so he could not ID them. I just wonder when our fine law enforcement officials are going to do something about it. The last time my truck was broken into, they didn't even look for any fingerprints!

What are some of your thoughts?

Where in Colton's Point did this happen? Time/date? This is the 1st I've heard of vehicles being broken into here, recently that is.

I don't live in Colton's Point, I live near Holy Angels church, but have heard that there have been instances in Colton's Point. Also, know of some on Oakley Rd. Lately I keep hearing of more and more. The owner of Farrells Seafood are another.

Also, I do not see them in the police reports. I have heard of two houses that were broken into now as well. I don't know if the police are lying low in order to try to get the guy or what, but I'm hearing more and more from people, but seeing nothing in the reports. It seems that whoever it is, is looking for only cash. That is the only thing that I've heard has been taken. Also, in one of the house burglaries guns were stolen.

My wife's uncles house (next door) was broken into several months ago, not too long after that HUGE party was broken up on Charles Hall Rd. the only damage was to the glass they broke to get in and the booze they drank.

Most of what I hear about is cars getting broken into. Usually a window gets broken out, and money is taken. My hubby left his wallet in his truck one night, and about 2:30 in the morning our dog is barking like crazy. They took his wallet and ran. Only about $40 was in it. Then when my truck window was busted out, they ransacked the whole truck and left with maybe a dollar in pocket change. This was right around Christmas time. Now I'm hearing about more instances, and then a few days ago hubby truck alarm was going off about 10:00 pm. and it takes alot for that thing to go off.

I live in the 7d and have not heard of this either, thanks for the info. I will keep a look out and make sure everything is locked up!

Most importantly, do not keep anything in your vehicle that looks like it may have $$ in it, ie. wallet, purse, bank envelopes (I think this is why they broke into mine. I had an empty bank envelope on the seat of my truck.) But I have heard of several instances. I am so surprised no one has heard anything.

Leave your vehicles unlocked. They (thieves) want cash, not possessions. At least you won't have to replace the window.

When I lived in 7D, I had my window broken for a couple dollars worth of change in the console. It cost $50 and a day of vacation to fix. They left behind my cell phone and CD player. Damned crackheads.

Exactly. And you could pretty much set your calendar to when it would happen. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas and June.

One year, my mom had the family over to open gifts on Christmas Eve. She lived right near Holy Angels. There were about 15 cars in the driveway. My sister went out to put a load of gifts in her car and found 3 of the cars had broken windows. The only thing taken was money from the consoles and my sister in laws purse.
