Vatican/Rome sightseeing tips?

One of the first nights I was in Rome, I ate at a restaurant close to our embassy - I forget the name. The kitchen was out of eggplant parmesan, so I ordered something else. The owner came to the table and apologized to me and asked my name and where I was staying at - he promised to call me when they had it again. For the rest of the month that I was there, he'd call me about once a week to tell me that they had a "very delicious" batch of eggplant parmesan. (and it was delicious) Rome seriously had some of the best food I've ever eaten - and in fact the best meal I've ever eaten was in Rome.

I stayed at the Roma hotel on Via Veneto (Sp?) - I would highly recommend it. :)
