We got married in Las Vegas also. Our wedding was at the top of the Stratosphere tower at night. In the chapel you could see the lights of the city.

For us it was worth it because of family drama. I hate family drama. :duel:

i have yet to tell my family or hers that we are considering this.. i figure we're gonna see if its something we 100% want to do before we tell them because we kinda already know their reaction.. right now we're like 70% towards a vegas gig

I was in the same boat. I was trying to decide between, Vegas, Sandles or a cruise for the wedding. I ended up deciding on getting married on a cruise ship then going to Vegas for the week as a honey moon after the cruise.

Went to a wedding in Vegas where the couple got married in the courtyard of the Flamingo. I know it's an older hotel but outside is gorgeous. They have a gazebo and everything. They had their reception at the Wynn which was also beautiful. I loved the indoor garden of flowers in the lobby.

The Flamingo is were I have my wedding planned in July. Not staying there or having a reception.

When hubby and I decided we were going to get married in Vegas, we didn't tell anyone. I ordered return address labels from Current that had 2 little kids dressed up in adult wedding outfits; I think the one was kissing the other's cheek.
With my husband's and *my* new last name on the envelope, we wrote a short but sweet note inside announcing our wedding and mailed them to friends and family from Vegas.
Neither of us had been married before and we were (are) in our 40's, no kids. Didn't see the need for a huge traditional church wedding.

If you're the adventurous type, check out getting married at the Grand Canyon. You can hop on a helicopter from Vegas and get married overlooking the Canyon. Packages weren't that bad of a price. Las Vegas helicopter weddings - Grand Canyon weddings - Lake Las Vegas

My fiance and I are still considering a Vegas wedding. We were there in December and seriously considered getting married there because it was so low maintenance on our part. We also want to avoid family drama or having to hear why we didn't invite certain people.

The Wynn is beautiful and so is the Encore which is connected to the Wynn. We just stayed at the Wynn a couple of weeks ago and as always, it was beautiful. Great pictures to be taken in front of their waterfalls. If your hubby to be and you like golf, they have a really nice course.

My wife and I have been to Vegas twice. Once to be best man and maid of honor in a Vegas wedding, the other purely for a vacation.

As far as locations go, we stayed at the Luxor both times. We didn't know where to stay the first time around, but we found that the Luxor was far enough south that is was "nicer" then the spots further north.

As for the wedding, I would try something arranged by one of the casino/hotels. They have the staff to handle everything, and the little chapels just seemed to be(1) too cookie cutter, where they need to get you in and out because they have fifteen other weddings to get to after you; (2) a little too corny; and (3) not as nice.

Since money is no object, go the Luxor and see if Chris Angle can preside over your wedding.:yahoo:

I wish I could have went to that wedding. I bet they had an awesome LAN party at the reception.

we're thinking of getting married in vegas... mostly because we're tired of the headache and cost of planning a traditional one, but also because we want to try something new and it would be pretty neat

any of you been to one, had one, or simply know of recommended places?

i've been looking online and seems that hotel ones have the best accomodations. price really isn't an issue either. so far we like the belagio and wynn

suggestions?

I did it

I got married there about 160 years ago. it was easy. It requires just a little bit of ground work and it works. Nothing wrong with doing it that way. In fact, when you consider some folks spend thousands of dollars on this nonsense, Vegas is the way to do it.
