Luxor and Excalibur connect to Mandalay Bay through the tram that runs between just those three hotels. New York New York is right next to Luxor and MGM is directly across the street. Mandalay Bay is at the very end of the strip and is a pretty good walking distance to any hotel. If your husband is going to Mandalay Bay for a convention and you want to stay close those are your best bets because the tram runs only to the three hotels and is free. Excalibur is the cheapest of the hotels and usually more or less it is a younger crowd that stays there (I think because it is cheaper)although they are all owned by the same company, I prefer the MGM, but Luxor isnt bad either. Mandalay Bay is a very nice hotel, but more pricey then the others and that is also owned by the same company, but keep in mind that Mandalay Bay is at the VERY end of the strip.

You will have soo much fun. Hubby and I wanted to go back next month. We're gonna wait a little longer. We stayed at the Rennaissance last year which was really nice but it's not on the strip. The monorail was right next to the hotel so we just took that whenever we wanted to go somewhere. We want to stay on the strip next time just for the fun of it. My sister went shortly after we did and stayed at circus circus. She hated it. Too many kids there. We did make the mistake of buying drinks at the bar one night in the sahara. We won't do that again. Two drinks cost us $22! :faint: Drinks are free if you're playing in the casino. You gotta go up in the stratosphere..it's a must-see. We went to see a show there and it was great. What kind of convention is your hubby going to? I think we want to stay at the luxor this time. If you get a chance to go inside the Wynn. It's absolutely gorgeous! They have a flower garden inside the lobby.

Where is the best place to stay in Vegas? We are looking at being there for 4 days.

We staid in the Stratosphere. It has the cheapest gambling table in Vegas. $5 gets you started. We went there in Dec 05. Had a blast. Craps is what you want to play. You can make a lot of money.

? what does that mean?

My husband towed a car out to the SEMA show in Vegas 2 years ago... They stayed for 8 days :jameo:

When he and I went, we stayed at the New York, New York. We were there for the SuperCross Championship [Motocross] at the MGM Grand.

I can't wait to go back some day!

...makes me cringe. Las Vegas and cruises. Never done either. Neither sounds appealing at all. Everybody I ask about them love both, so, what do I know?

I have no desire to go on a cruise whatsoever and if I never go to Vegas again I'll be just fine.

We are gonna go for the NACE Expo. DH does NOT enjoy gambling at all so the only way to get him to Vegas is for something HE is interested in. He can do his thing and I can hit the casios :lmao:

Now I am more confused then ever of where to stay  Tonight I will check out all the hotels you all suggested and try to make a decision.

The Duce is the double decker bus that runs up and down The Strip. When we were there (in 06), the price for a 24 hr period was $5.
I never went off The Strip, so other than the taxi ride to and from the airport, I never took one to off Strip to the other hotel/museums (like The Palms or the Liberace museum). So I can not vouch for the cheapness of the cabs. It cost $15 to get from the airport to The Tropancana (which is one of the first hotels on The Strip from the airport) and I think it is cost around $13 back to the airport due to the no adding of the airport cab fee.

This thread has had me searching LV deals all day. In 06 we stayed 4 nights at the Bellagio. Total cost (air and hotel) was under $1500 for two people. The rates while searching today were in the $2300 range. :ohwell:

You guys sound like the couple we went with last time. She kept snatching his tickets too! She went to the bathroom and I told him " come on let's go gamble before she comes back". As soon as she came back she cashed him out. :ohwell: Is this going to be a tax write off trip? :killingme
