I have noticed alot of advertising for vonage and other VOIP services lately. Does anyone have and experiences (good/bad) with them?

Vonage is awesome. I've had it for 1 1/2 years. We have never paid anymore than $28.00 a month and that is with tax. You get ur first month free and anytime u refer someone you get another month free. You get unlimited long distance across the u.s. and some other foreign countries nand all kinds of features. I would highly recommend it!

No vonage here. I do however run a vent server. If somebody needs me they just log in and scream until I come to my mic.

Since I got DSL, I switched my phone service to one of the minimum rates and found a long distance carrier on loweremybills.com

I pay about $20 a month for ALL phone service, can't see where I'd save anything by going to $28 a month for long distance only.

I've had Vonage for 2 1/2 years now...nothing but great service the whole time. I've never had one problem.

The rates are dirt cheap (cheaper than Comcast's VOIP)...even the overdseas rates are pretty tough to beat. (5 cents/minute to Australia :yay: )

Also, the overall voice quality is as good as a regular phone line. Of course you have to have a good broadband internet connection. For this reason, I only reccommend it if you also have a cell phone...on the off-chance you have an emergency and your cable is out.

I'm paying the $15 a month minumim service from the phone company and my long distance is usually under $5 a month, had about 40 minutes on it this month and that ran it up to $7

Check out lowermybills.com for long distance carriers, think I'm paying about .5 cents a minute fo all out of state calls.

We have Vonage, it's great! :yahoo:

You can keep your same phone(s) and phone number. When we signed up they had a $15 and a $25 plan.

We love our Vonage! We have the unlimited plan of $24.99. Our bill for November was $29.40 as you still have to pay the fees associated with your phone service. (Regulatory Recovery Fee $0.99, Emergency 911 Cost Recovery $0.99, Federal Universal Service Surcharge $1.43, County 911 Fee $0.75, and State 911 Fee $0.25). It was easy to install and we loved the fact that we didn't have to change our home phone number.
