Walkway border ideas

I would dig a one foot deep channel where you want the walkway to be. Tamp the soil in the bottom of the channel using a gas-powered mechanical compactor. Push flagstones in vertically to create your border. Place 6 inches of 3/4" trap rock at the bottom of the trench in two lifts, compacting between lifts. Cover the trap rock with filter fabric and place 6" of stone dust. Compact the stone dust, adjust the grade level, and then place your flagstones. Place pea gravel between the flagstones as ballast.

Wow...that sounds REALLY nice. Do the local rental stores have the compactor?
