Ok so heres what Im thinking. If Walmart can take a 100.00 perscription at CVS and make it 4.00, how come they cant take 4.00 gas and get it for like a 1.00? How is it they get meds for cheap and why cant they do the same for gas.

They're selling those meds at a loss. They make up for it by hoping that you pick up your food, clothes, music, and toys while you are in there.

It is illegal to sell gasoline at a loss in Maryland. Even if Wal-Mart or any other retailer wanted to do it they couldn't.

Doesnt the government control meds too.

Not the prices.

Walart can afford to sell you $4 meds, becasue they can still soak the insurance company for $150 for the same drug. IF you have insurance, Wal Mart is discounting maybe $6 on a $150 prescription?

Wal-Mart isn't losing money, they just aren't making as much as others.. of course they have a LOT of other profit potential in their store, they can afford to make only a 50% profit on prescriptions where a drugstore has to depend on 200% (for example)

I was told that they get the meds from other countries for cheap. Not sure it is true. However, i know the drug companies have the meds patented for 7 years after that they become over the counter. India, take the meds breaks the chemical components and makes the meds for way way cheap. I get my meds from Canada and the pills here in the US cost me 90 for 3 months. The same meds from Canada cost me $50.

Tis true, sir. I have a friend who is a devout WalMart Rx user because of the script saving factor. However, one of her hubby's meds and cat's meds aren't covered (say $200) and she'll "list shop" while she's waiting, she will also pick up unnecessary things and impulse items while being frustrated in both check out lines.

Not my business :yay:

:yay: Target has the same deals, and much better service. We do a combination of methods, like Target, mail order, and finding OTC alternatives (Walitin for Claritin, generic Zantac instead of Nexium.)

We have decent prescription coverage, but it's still a lot of $$$. I don't know how people without coverage can afford to stay alive.
