Anyone know if the pad on the back of laminate flooring would keep so much vibration from a washing machine from transferring to the rest of the house?

Its currently in a closet on vinyl flooring and I was thinking of buying some laminate flooring with the pad already on the strips and laminating the closet floor.

In My Opinion
get bungee straps and suspend the machine from the ceiling.
that should take care of it.

you are most very welcome.

let us know how it works. take pictures.

Ive seen those before, Lowes sells something similar. I just can't see paying that much for some rubber. To redo the floor in the closet costs less.

Laminate isn't at all water friendly, so it probably wouldn't be the best choice for a laundry area. We had a humidifier leak on our laminate when we weren't home and the laminate bubbled up really bad.

I know, but here we are talking about a $30 box of laminate flooring for a closet that needs the floor redone anyway.

$30 a box? You won't be rid of those vibrations with that. Heck if you want to go on the cheap then go to Bed Bath and Beyond and by yourself some Moving Men. Of course you might find the washer in the living room after it slides across the floor! :lmao:

You could get those mats they have at lowes they used to line shop floors or play areas. They are pretty thick and should cushion you enough!

I don't think it would cushion it very much, the layer is pretty thin. Look over in the section where they have things to place under furniture legs. I think I saw some pretty thick rubber ones. If that doesn't work out I would try a packing styrofoam sheet. The dense kind.

Mind wondering off into absurdville: Get 4 shocks off a small car and install them on the washer. Or coil springs. Airbags, the suspension ones.

When I used to do heating and Air Contioning we would set the indoor units on these sorts of pads.

Ancork-Anti Vibration Pads

I bet Lowe's has them. If not I know we used to get them from the R.E. Michel's store that was on Great Mills Rd. But I don't think it's there anymore. There is one on Waldorf though.

Don't do laminate anywhere that water could flood it. Trust me.

BS Gal is right....even if you use the glue that they recommend for the joints of the laminate in a kitchen or bathroom, it does not hold up well in damp or wet rooms.

If you do decide to use it, lay the foam vapor barrier under the flooring. I know they say you don't need it if the laminate has the foam backing, but professional installers told me to use the vapor barrier anyway.

The flooring is very easy to install.

I have 3 samples of cork flooring that you could cut to fit. You fine jigsaw bit to cut them. You are welcome to them if you want them. :howdy:
