Has anyone noticed the gas prices at this store? I drove by one day and I saw the price was $3.18. Then I noticed below that it said cash payers: $3.15. Anyone know why this is?

I think I remember this being discussed. I believe to get people to go into the store and buy stuff.

The credit card companies charge a percentage to the merchant - usually 2 - 5%, plus a monthly fee AND a transaction fee. They're trying to encourage you to pay cash so you save money and they increase their profit margin.

High gas prices, along with the enormous taxes the state/fed levies, have taken their toll on the gas vendors. It's almost not worth it for them to sell gas anymore.

NOT Politically Correct!!
In the 70's we had real gas shortages :jameo:, had to ration, only allowed to buy a certain amount, and you could only buy gas on odd or even days depending on the last digit of your license plate. Now analyst :bonk: predict shortages (whether true or not) that control gas prices and as far as I'm concerned it's a crock of ####. They are now predicting gas will GO DOWN :otter: in price but even if it stayed high I could buy as much of it as I wanted at the higher price, oil companies are making a windfall of profits (over 100 Billion) but still enjoy government subsidized monies courtesy of the US tax payers.

The ripple affect is hitting our wallet from every direction because the higher fuel cost to transport commodities just gets passed on to the consumer. Thank goodness I'm only 4 miles from work...:coffee:

Nationalize the oil companies! Then they can lower
the price per gallon and the Gubbermint can still get
MORE money! The Gubbermint can have/run the oil
refineries and cut those robber-barons (CEOs) out
of their obscene profits!

I'm not buying his c**p about "problems"! The oil
companies told us in SEPT of LAST YEAR that they
would have the price of gas up to $4 by Memorial Day!

And NOBODY seems to be complaining and the Gubbermint
isn't doing ANY "investigating".

Looks like "the fix is in" if you ask me.

While it is true that they pay a percentage to the credit card company, their motivation is not to make up for that. They really want you in the store where you will buy their overpriced food and drinks.

Selling gas hasn't been profitable for a long time. That's why every gas station has a convenience store or repair shop to actually make some money. The gas just lures people to the station.

They're always high.........Sonny should be ashamed.

Actually, I've noticed that prices in Great Mills/ Lex Park / California are always a few cents cheaper than anywhere else. Go a few miles north on either 4 or 235/5, and it's higher. We just seem to be in a low price pocket. The only exception I've seen is Dahlgren, VA. They are either the same as here or lower, rarely higher.
