Now being reported is that Bryce/Vester isn't dead but critically wounded.

The guy was obviously a mental mess. Just watched the TV station manager explain why he had to fire Vester/Bryce, and he described him as a very unhappy person and always looking for personal slights in every exchange he had with other staff/employees. The guy reportedly has held many. many jobs in many places....most for short periods of time.

You just never know. I had to fire a very unstable and disruptive employee many years ago and, after he left the building, we changed all the locks. Had a very bad feeling about the guy and what he might be capable of. A few years later, same guy made the local news by barricading himself in a house in an armed standoff with police. People do snap...

That was my thought too ! :yay:

ehhh....not sure. They reported her fiancé as another anchor with the same news station. There's a chance he might not even have control of his twitter and FB right now. It writes like a press release, $5 their PR person posted it for him for their followers. A little tacky, but....

And I didn't see anywhere that he was actually "tweeting like crazy" but then again I can't read the facebook link.

I don't know, but the media is focusing on the victims today instead of just the shooter and his motives.

because the victims were from a news station. and both their SO's worked in the same news station. information about their personal lives, and lots of it, is immediately known without having to research or fact-check so that's what's been put out there to the public and that's what everyone else will report and re-report until they have more information about the shooter.

If this were any other shooting, all the news stations would currently be over-speculating on what very little info they have.

Go figure that one.

What would the coverage be if the races were reversed - (A) a whole lot more focus on the shooter and racist motives, (B) or just rally around the media brotherhood?

I choose A.

A shocking and awful era of social media. He filmed the executions with a GoPro and posted it on Facebook and Twitter.

And even though his pages have been suspended, the video is out, and being shared ten-fold. Only glorifying the incident.

oh ####. See, I didn't even think of that. A crazy black dude just shot up a couple of white people. My mind did not even process a race factor or consider picking up my pitchfork. Imagine that.

Sounds like the guy had a serious case of the black man being picked on complex.

From what I read, he was fired 2 years ago and mad at the camera man for reporting him to HR after working with him 1 time and her because she was his replacement. He also accussed her of being a racist.

Seriously... these people live among us

Manifesto purportedly sent by Virginia gunman cites ‘race wa

"A fax attributed to Vester Lee Flanagan claims the slayings were a response to the Charleston mass shooting.

An apparent suicide note received by ABC News on Wednesday morning and attributed to Virginia shooting suspect Flanagan, aka Bryce Williams, claims the killing of two reporters during an on-air interview was motivated by the Charleston church shooting and a desire to incite a “race war.”

ABC News says a man identifying himself as both Flanagan and Williams — Flanagan's on-air name — first contacted it several weeks ago.

The man asked for a fax number, claiming he wanted to pitch the news channel a story.

A fax reportedly transmitted two hours after this morning’s shooting appears to contain “suicide notes” authored by a man named Bryce Williams.

“What sent me over the top was the church shooting,” the author says, referring to June’s mass shooting at the historic Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. "And my hollow point bullets have the victims’ initials on them.”

“As for [Charleston shooting suspect] Dylann Roof? You [censored]! You want a race war [censored]? BRING IT THEN YOU WHITE …[censored]!!!”

The author then claims “Jehovah” told him to act on his plans.

“Also, I was influenced by Seung–Hui Cho. That’s my boy right there,” the notes continue, referencing the gunman who killed 32 people at Virginia Tech in 2007. "He got NEARLY double the amount that [Columbine High School shooters] Eric Harris and Dylann Klebold got…just sayin’.”

The fax, entitled "Suicide Note for Friends and Family,” concludes with a list of grievances that include “racial discrimination” and “sexual harassment” in the workplace, and makes reference to the author’s homosexuality." .....

A very graphic video, but not so graphic that they didn't preface it with a commercial.

Come on, do advertisers really want their product mated with a video of cold blooded murder?

"Vester Lee Flanagan, the disgruntled WDBJ-TV former employee had the mitigated gall to record his evil act. He uploaded the above video to his Facebook page which was subsequently suspended. I must warn again, the video is very graphic."
