"We admit its okay to be a racist, as long as you are a Democrat"

Black Democratic leaders in Maryland say that racially tinged attacks against Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in his bid for the U.S. Senate are fair because he is a conservative Republican.
Such attacks against the first black man to win a statewide election in Maryland include pelting him with Oreo cookies during a campaign appearance, calling him an "Uncle Tom" and depicting him as a black-faced minstrel on a liberal Web log.
Operatives for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) also obtained a copy of his credit report -- the only Republican candidate so targeted.
But black Democrats say there is nothing wrong with "pointing out the obvious."

Good old Kweisi Mfume is in there, too. Its nice to see the former president of the NAACP showing his true colors... Oh wait! I said colors! That may be racist of me!

crabcake

But wait, there's more...
UFB! :duh:

And this is the group my father chooses to support (liberals; not the NAACP). :lmao:

Yeah, I saw the headline on Drudge, but I couldn't actually get to the article for some reason. Anyway, all better now, on with the show...

"There is a difference between pointing out the obvious and calling someone names," said a campaign spokesman for Kweisi Mfume, a Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate and former president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Great! Kweisi Mfume is a racist idiot! I'm just pointing out the obvious... :killingme

I need to learn about Michael Steele now. I am hoping I agree with him mostly because he may have a rabid new supporter. I would just support blindly because of the above, but it isn't in my nature. I guess I will have to go looking before I get to cause trouble... a little patience never hurt. :ohwell:

I hear he got rave reviews from a few forumites though. :yay:

Oh yeah! I'd love to see this argument used against Dems...
State Sen. Lisa A. Gladden, a black Baltimore Democrat, said she does not expect her party to pull any punches, including racial jabs at Mr. Steele, in the race to replace retiring Democratic U.S. Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes.
"Party trumps race, especially on the national level," she said. "If you are bold enough to run, you have to take whatever the voters are going to give you. It's democracy, perhaps at its worse, but it is democracy."
:yikes:

Actually, you still can't from Drudge. I went to Washington Times and searched it out myself.

I just sent the link to O'Reilly and asked them to cover the story. I think that could be an interesting show...

Really, because it sure seems like its the Republicans that are the racist.

"Last week, an ugly bit of business transpired in the GOP-dominated House of Representatives, where Republican hard-liners succeeded in passing a measure that would limit the ability of nonprofit groups to conduct voter registration drives. It was one of those moments when you don't have to wonder what the jihadist faction of the GOP is up to: They want to restrict the franchise to people who think as they do.

Rep. John Lewis (news, bio, voting record), D-Ga., a veteran of the civil rights movement, said the measure would "take us back to 1964 or 1965. I just think they (Republicans) want to be in a position to stifle the participation of poor people and minorities in the political process. They want to take us back to another period."

This heavy-handed step was of a piece with other Republican efforts to place obstacles in the way of voters they fear may favor Democrats. In Georgia, the GOP-dominated legislature passed a law earlier this year requiring all voters to have a state-sponsored photo ID, such as a driver's license. Happily, a federal court has ruled the law an unconstitutional impediment to voting."

Yes, because having a photo ID is a "white thing"! Because all nonprofits only support minorities!

That is an opinion piece laced with innuendo and no real factual merit. It is no worse than the democrats gerrymandering districts to get black only districts to get the votes. Republicans gerrymander for their own benefit.

It is not the same as calling someone an Uncle tom, throwing Oreos at them, and making other racial remarks. BTW, does it not mean anything to you that Bush has more minorities and women serving him than anyone before him? How about the fact that Clinton had one of the whitest staffs in history? Forget what they say, look at what they do. :lmao:

...I can't believe you would say such a short sighted, simple minded thing.

This is only ONE of myriad reasons I can't stand them.

You are completely and totally beyond pathetic. How you can equate photo ID cards to Democrats making racial slurs is just beyond my comprehension and is not even worthy of the slightest bit of debate.

People like you, sir, are why Democrats suck and will continue their downward spiral until they have to hide underground like the vermin they are.

You do realize that was an op-ed piece that was heavily biased by a liberal columnist, right?

It wasn't, like, a real news story or anything.

Perhaps you should look around and see if you can find the real story, look at both sides objectively (ha-ha) and come up with your own opinion.

Just a suggestion.

Yeah...

In Georgia, the GOP-dominated legislature passed a law earlier this year requiring all voters to have a state-sponsored photo ID, such as a driver's license. Happily, a federal court has ruled the law an unconstitutional impediment to voting.

We sure as hell can't have that, now can we?

Why is it OK for a group to abuse their federal funding to go out and specifically attack Republicans by sterotyping specific groups of people and the GOP to not fight back?

Because you, dear wolf, see so many things only in color, imagine if this group was using federal funding to target just business owners? Or just people who owned second homes? Or any group that tends to vote for one party over another?

On top of all this cry baby non sense by Lewis, who, by the way, is decrying the tactics of DEMOCRATIC segregationists of the 1960's, tactics that went down to defeat with near unanimous support from the GOP in the 1964 Civil Rights act, which many Democrats oppossed, why oh why does ANYONE need some sort of assistance to get registered to vote in the first place?

an amendment was added that prohibits any nonprofit group from receiving any of the federal affordable-housing funds if it has conducted a voter registration campaign in the past year, even if it has used its own funds to do so.

GOP backers of the amendment say all they're trying to do is make sure that federal funds are not used to support partisan political activities.

Why is this bad?

Your response will be that the GOP is targeting specific groups. When you stop to think about it, you'll recognize that you are saying they are trying to stop what is already illegal and that you recognize that some of these groups are violating the law.

Dear Larry,

What did I tell you about teaching pigs to sing? You too,Tox. Knock it off right now, both of you.

And Tex? In the future your only response to this sort of ignorance should be "At least we don't pick our nose and eat our boogers like Democrats do! Ha ha!"

In the name of all that is conservative,

Vrai

Larry, you have one flaw in this statement. He will not think. He will react with emotion quoting the party line.
