We have become an urgent care country.

Like it or not we have to go to Clinics now.

Is our health care any better than Government care?
I have insurance with BC&BS I have medicare. I called my Doctor for an in person appointment.
I decribed my symptoms, Back pain, and leg pain, and I mean pain no BS.
My appointment 11 -24 ten days from now.
My choices are to wait ten days or go to the hospital or Urgent care.----A Clinic basically.
What good is it to have a private Doctor today if they are not seeing you for 10 days.

basically our health system has turned to sh*t.
No wonder we have emergency rooms filled.
Call your Doctor and the first thing they say is if this is an emergency go to the emergency room,.
That's a guaranteed 3 hrs or more.
If you go to Urgent Care you should make an appointment.

What happened to our health care in America?

On the road I use the urgent care places. They are convenient and I'm in and out pretty fast. They are a sort of swiss army knife when it comes to handling most routine medical issues. I'm glad that is an option today.

Using urgent care is true for me too. It is so much easier than seeing my doc. Instead of calling, waiting on hold, I make an appointment online with the urgent care. If I need an x-ray, it is in office. The urgent care I go to has spent more time with me in each appointment than the doc. They are not rushed and see me at the time of my appointment. i am happy to have the option.

Ditto.
At UC, they get right to the point of what I’m there for, get it fixed, and done . Super competent and caring NPs, will hear you out and find a solution.

At Dr’s office, it’s an hour wait for your appointment, talk to three other employees, then Dr rushes in, spends 2 mins with me, and offloads me back to a nurse. Then charges me for 2 hrs of his time.

Urgent care (at least in Charlotte Hall) is a cluster F*%K! ANY time I am forced to go there the wait is excruciating! You can't even just walk in there anymore unless you're bleeding from an artery and then they'll send you to the ER anyway. Now you have to go online to set a time to show up and hope you still don't have an interminable wait. The last appointment I made the "helpful" person on the other end of the phone so nicely made the arrangements and then when I got there was told they couldn't see me because they never got doctor's orders! The numbskull that made the appointment NEVER told me I had to have that sent!!! Tried again last week to take my daughter, went online to get a time slot and the only thing available was THREE days out! They suck royally.

Pro tip:

Call an ambulance.

If you walk-in to the ER you'll end up dying in their waiting room - of old age if nothing else.
Call an ambulance and they come get you, whisk you right in, and you're getting treatment in a way more reasonable time period.

But hurry because this will go away soon as the Biden voters are constantly calling an ambulance for hangnails and hurt feelz, which means emergency reponders will stop responding.

How did you get through on the phone? I tried and tried multiple times. Every time I got disconnected before I could reach a live person.

Also - I think you can blame Reagan for urgent care - I think it was under his administration where it was decided you can't be turned away in an emergency room, even if it's for the sniffles. Consequently EVERYONE who didn't go to a doctor went to the emergency room for EVERYTHING. The night I was hauled to the emergency room for a gall bladder attack, I had two guests - a little boy with the flu and a drunk.

Have no idea. It's a friggin' mystery but it was a waste of time in the end anyway. It's a "call" center and they are ignoramuses on the other end of the line.

Well here are a few things to know. St Mary's County has placed two paid people at each Rescue Squad in the County,
They work fro 5AM to 5PM, then volunteers get home from work and can respond.
This became a necessity when the response time for Ambulances became too long and some companies were scratching( Not getting out) because of EMT's with Covid and others who worked for Government were told they could not volunteer, some had issues that made them stay home like age and /or lung issues, or other problems that placed them at risk.
St.Mary's was calling on Charles and Calvert to fill in too often and even PG had filled in a few times.

It is funny , but during the big scare of Covid the Emerigency Room and the Ambulances were pretty quiet, then the scare got over and the frequent Fliers started flying again loading up the system.

A woman in my neighborhood went into labor early during the middle of the day so she called the ambulance. She gave birth at home with her husband's assistance while on the telephone with the 911 operator. 30 minutes after giving birth, the Rescue Squad from Leonardtown arrived.

The squad closest was probably responding to another call.

I went to urgent care (the one next to Cracker Barrel) once when I thought I had strep and the doctor couldn't/wouldn't see me. A few months later, I started getting emails "We haven't see you lately...do you want to make an appointment" or something similar to that. I was shocked. I thought the point of urgent care was when something was urgent and your regular doctor wasn't available...not to schedule an appointment just to be seen for regular medical care???
