Revelation 6:1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.
The commentary, this morning, refers to Daniel 9:20-27.
I started to post Daniel 9:20-27 here. The problem is, it's above my paygrade and I don't understand all the 7 Sevens and 62 Sevens and 70th Seven stuff. I would have to go back and read the first 9 chapters of Daniel to come close. So, I'm posting the link [above] and I suggest you read it. It might be time for you to read it again.
Hollywood put the hero on a white horse... but according to Daniel and the commentary, this is not our hero, Jesus. This is someone much more sinister.
He rules (a crown was given); he rules with a bow, not a sword; and he exercises dominion over the earth (went out conquering and to conquer). But the results of his rule, as described in the following verses, show clearly that this is not the reign of Jesus.
“The whole context and character of these seals absolutely forbid our thinking of this rider being the Lord Jesus, as so many affirm. His reign shall not bring war, famine, and strife in its train.” (Jennings)
Here we reach an interpretive crossroads of the Book of Revelation. You can tell much about how a person understands this book and God’s prophetic plan by seeing how they understand this first rider. Those who think Revelation is mostly a book of history believe that this rider is Jesus, the apostles, or the Roman emperors. Those who believe that this is a prophetic passage, yet to be fulfilled, often account this rider to be the antichrist.
Come and see: The modern political and social scene is certainly set for the emergence of such a political leader. All that waits is for the Lord to allow it in His timing after He takes His church from this earth.
Significantly, the first seal opened brings this dictator to prominence. We understand that the seventieth week of Daniel 9 begins when this dictator will confirm a covenant with [the] many, referring to the Jewish people.
The first seal reveals a dictator on a white horse. He looks really good mounted on his swift white steed. When we left Chapter 5, John said all the creatures on earth, in the heavens and in the sea would call out. It was really, really, noisy. And then Jesus popped the first seal... and out pops a man on a white horse. He's been elected or anointed to rule.... and he, like old King Saul... looks like a leader. He's all spiffy on his wonderful white steed... and he arrives during what sounds like a whole lot of chaos.
So... Let me ask. Do you think this dictator has arrived?
According to the commentary, the dictator could very well be here now. We have Putin... He's accused of murdering his opponent. There is a lot of this kind of trickery in the Old Testament. There's Netanyahu, who's accused of murdering innocent children in Gaza in his quest to massacre Hamas for its' attack on Israel back in October 2023. Oh, you know I can't rule out Trump or Biden. There are people in the US today who would swear either of them might very well be the one riding that white steed. I don't think Jinping or any of the Asian leaders would be the dictator on the white horse, but I might be way off base. Like I said, this is way above my paygrade.
Maybe the noise is Social Media! That gets loud sometimes. If so, then whoever reigns supreme over Social Media could be the guy on the white horse. That would include Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and, of course, Donald Trump.
In the mist of all the noise lot of chatter, barking, breying, and tweeting, at the end of chapter 5, Jesus pops the 1st seal... and it's a dictator! Wow!
Is this historical, current, or still in the future?
We know it's a dictator!
