Rocky Mountain High!!
after our lovely ride at Greenwell Sunday, I came home to a GORGEOUS litter of puppies ! (12 in all!! 9 girls 3 boys) What a pleasant surprise and i usually spend all night on the cot by the whelping pen. Sissy made me very happy by doing it all by herself while I was out having fun....What a good doggy mommy...BAD BAD human mommy...

With that said, she doesn't appear to have much milk. Does anyone know how i can boost her milk supply? I'd rather not bottle feed just yet, due to the immunities provided by mom, but the poor girl...the babies are whining cause they drain her dry, each time it's time to turn the donuts...(they rotate around pretty nicely, they are all pretty consistent in size thank goodness!)

what is your criteria?
What are your dog's credentials? What classifies him as a potential stud dog?
(First off, we've been in the breed for 25 years with puppies all over the world - and having owned 4 imports & produced multiple champions so measure your answer carefully, I'm RUTHLESS )

My criteria - she has a mild temperment, plays well with others, good hips, good structure, good size to her....

his credentials... Im not sure... he hasnt told me yet....

As for using him as a stud, he's a very handsome, strong, good structured, good hips, good size dog.... he's good with people, VERY low temperment, loves to play and have fun.... and yes he is AKC....so is the female Im supposed to look at....

But a few pointers on what else to look for would not hurt

I know the people we bought from have been breeding for 6-7 years now, this is their 8th I think....

But, ya gotta start a champion line from somewhere right ........

how do you know his hips are good?
how will you know her hip status?
do you know they are more than a set of hips? they have hearts, elbows, eyes...this breed has more AKC disqualifying faults than ANY other breed registered with the AKC. Do you know what they are? have you given consideration to the tail issue?
I told you i'm ruthless

it's "MY" breed
Anyone who is anyone in the breed knows me...

BTW...they don't go "by the pound" they have a specific size requirement in the AKC breed standard.

Peace
Are the males spoken for? If not, when will you know whether they will be show vs pet quality or do you just sell them at one price regardless? PM me if you want about prices. I would LOVE to come see them when they are ready to make public appearances. Thanks!

His hips have been XRayed, they said they looked very good (going off the vets word and the XRay photos)
The vet also showed me how to check there hips by feel and all that....
Her hips, I will definitely check in to all that...
And I understand what you mean about disqualifications, Ive read that in a few books I have...
The tail from what Ive read, is supposed to be cropped 1 1/2-2"

I know your being ruthless, and I appreciate it, cuz as someone who is trying to get into breeding, I need to know ALL of this... so correct me if Im wrong, or PM me, or hell, call me, its my first time(breeding) so I know there is alot I dont know yet.... Any info will help though :yay:
