Only have 3 - boys...i'm not sure.
Do you have little kids?
Will you neuter?
Any experience with a working breed?
We had a Rottie but he got cancer and had to be put down. It was awful! My husband is ready for another, it has been almost 11 years! We have a Chessie now and a terrier mix. Yes on the neutering. Without question. I have three kids, 10, 8 and 2.

His hips have been XRayed, they said they looked very good (going off the vets word and the XRay photos)
The vet also showed me how to check there hips by feel and all that....
Her hips, I will definitely check in to all that...
And I understand what you mean about disqualifications, Ive read that in a few books I have...
The tail from what Ive read, is supposed to be cropped 1 1/2-2"

I know your being ruthless, and I appreciate it, cuz as someone who is trying to get into breeding, I need to know ALL of this... so correct me if Im wrong, or PM me, or hell, call me, its my first time(breeding) so I know there is alot I dont know yet.... Any info will help though :yay:
You need to submit them to the OFA to know their status. I am using Penn Hip. I may not OFA anymore, with the advent of Penn Hip. It gives the actual hip laxity index, in addition to size and shape, and is an actual numeric measurement rather than 3 opinions like OFA is.

sure! but don't be in a hurry to buy a girl just so you can be your own little production house
Rotts can be a real liability. Like selling a loaded gun to the wrong person.
BTW my website hasn't been updated for a while, i get way too many requests for pups  i can't meet the demand so i just kind of let it go. My ISP also crashed without backing up files, so several pix were also lost. I changed computers and the pix were on my old one. I will go in and update it...when i get a moment  I have to add the horses anyways.

Oh and we aren't "open to the public" until babies have had their first shots. They can be seen at around 5-6 weeks, but not touched until the first shots @ 7 weeks. Rott immune systems suck and i'm a cootie FREAK. The herpes virus is rampant in this breed, and wreaks havoc with the newborn-5 week old babies.
I'll send pix tomorrow.

:nono: gf said NO MORE doggies in the house :bawl:

And I totally know what you mean, the people we bought from did interviews and all of that.... which I would also require if I did breed... maybe I can come see yours, and check them all out, and then maybe one day meet up with you somewhere to see mine.... and you can take a look and just give me a personel opinion on what you think of him.... either way, he is still like my son, and he's such a daddy's boy

Yep that is true...I assumed she just had them and needed to come into milk..it would not make a difference if she is a poor milk producer (whole 8 weeks) in the first place...
she wasn't last year, but there were only 2 last year. they are 2 days old. born sunday.

Oxytocin is only to cause the milk to start (let down), it doesn't make the mother produce more milk.
It actually is used to evoke contractions, so any additional junk is expelled from the uterus after whelping, or to re-start stalled labor. If given too early in the process, like if you are in a hurry to start labor, it can (and does) rupture the uterus. Then you have a mell of a hess. I only use it when i think the girlie is done and want to make sure all placentas are out. But i don't have any on hand.

when i say the "tail issue" i mean we are the only country that continues to allow tail docking, and there is a big debate among breed folks on whether the tailed dogs should even be allowed to compete in AKC shows. Leaving the tail ON is not listed as a disqualifying fault and IMO, it should therefore be judged as any other fault (as in level bites, undercoat showing, round eyes, that sort of thing).

I say a Rottie is a Rottie, tail or not (it does soften the look a bit) but Rottncop and i fight about it, he HATES the tails

Oh yes! He is a pound puppy as well and had no obedience training. Nothing like an unruly hard head like a Chessie. He has been through school now and is a well mannered boy (well, for the most part). He is "loud noise shy" so this is why we figure he was sent to the pound, not a good hunter. He is a HUGE lover though.

I knew that  Figured since she'd had the pups a few days ago you just wanted more milk production.

I picked her up some chicken gravy mix, and poured it over her Puppy Iams...then put it in front of her while she was curled up with the babies, and she gobbled it up!! She wouldn't get up to walk over to it on the other side of the whelping pen though  she's quite the momma.

I always have to feed mine like that too for the first few days....good luck...also can get a huge thing (5 lbs) of high pro milk replacer powder for $20 at the henyard..mine love that on their food..
Do you put that on powdered? She's lovin' the chicken gravy...might have ruined that possibility already, but that milk replacer makes more sense nutritionally. I'll have to send Rottncop in tomorrow. TIA~

Thanks, this litter has 2 of our best Imported females in it, and goes back to some of the best dogs in the country! We're pretty excited, it's the first for our stud dog - he's 5 and not offered to the public for breeding. (He is his Hungarian momma's ONLY puppy. She's Hungarian, but linebred super nice true German Rotties.) So you can see why we're excited about this many to choose from!! I'm still pinching myself!

But wait, there's more...
Awwww, how purty is she! And there's nothing cuter in the world than a bunch of little hand-full sized puppies.

Congrats HA!
