Yes. We chose to use fabric vs newspaper because we wanted something more permanent and we knew for sure where we wanted to landscape. It wasn't very expensive and the roll covers a lot of area. We layed it out in sections so that if we wanted to remove it from any particular are we could do so with ease. I used a utility knife to cut out places I wanted to plant once it was down.
