"Trump will destroy our democracy! That's why we must keep him off the ballot and imprison him!"

Critical thinking - or thinking at all - has never been a Democrat strong suit.
Actually - whenever I see a sign NOT MENTIONING TRUMP but pleading to protect "democracy" - I know it's an attempt to savage Trump.

Because conservatives say it until blue in the face - we are NOT a democracy, and thank God for that. A Democracy means that any minority of any kind doesn't get a voice. EVER. And that IS the way it worked in the ancient world, and that very fact IS why they failed.

We are a republic. Ben Franklin famously quipped when asked, what have we got? "A republic, if you can keep it". A democracy means, 50% plus one can tell the rest to go pound sand. A republic means, they all get a voice.

What I STILL DON'T GET - is, if this were any other candidate that the left thought extreme, they might say "He'll destroy our country! He'll make us all have to pray in schools, and ban smoking and drinking! He'll -----------blah blah blah"

But Trump WAS President. And he did NONE of those things. And he's not saying he intends to do this stuff. This is utterly made up crap, like that snowjob they did on Romney claiming he would end birth control.

"All dissent must be silenced and punished for the sake of democracy!"

It's all so Big Brotherish I can't even.... This is why Orwell resonates to this day - he was an expert on human nature and humans never change.

Democrat voters are obviously stupid and believe what they're told to believe. They don't look at evidence, they don't look at history, they don't look at facts - they do as they're told by their cult leaders.

Trump didn't "incite an insurrection" - in FACT he tried to quell the anger and encourage his more hotheaded supporters to be peaceful. He did this right on camera for the whole world to see. And him questioning the results of the bullshit election that the Democrats cheated and stole is no different than Al Gore demanding recount after recount in 2000.

Stupid Democrats are led around by the media, which is led around by the Democrat Party, which is led around by our foreign enemies. They need to be overthrown and abolished.

He asked them to “peacefully and patriotically” let their voices be heard. There’s a piece by Naomi Wolf - NOT a conservative - saying sorry to Republicans. Because in her world - she NEVER heard about that. It was finally when she saw the videos on Tucker when she realized - most of what I “know” - is wrong.

And it ENDED because he asked them to stop. So what are Democrats complaining about? He didn’t do it FAST enough.

Al? Hell, they still think Trump cheated in 2016. They did and still call him an illegitimate President.

And they did whatever possible to thwart it, including a three year bogus investigation. They asked electors to vote for Hillary even though they were pledged for Trump.

There is ZERO difference between the two - and yet the networks call it “the big lie” and people who believe BIDEN cheated are “election deniers “ but do not say that about people who think Trump cheated.

Yes. Let democracy die. It has no home in this Nation. What really gets me riled is when the word democracy comes out of of a republican's mouth. It is when you hear it from them that you know they are RINO's.

Here's are my definitions; In a Republic, (a government of and by the consent of the people), the majority rules while still protecting and defending the rights of the people, the individual. In a democracy, it is mob rule where the rights of the people can and are usurped, restricted, and where exercising a right can be a criminal offence. Huge difference.

This sht wears me out.

Democracy is a form of government in which state power is vested in the people or the general population of a state, many times through representatives.

Republic is also a form of government where power resides in the people, who exercise it through elected representatives.

Republic vs. Democracy:
While often used interchangeably, a republic is a specific form of government where power is derived from the people, while democracy is a broader concept encompassing various forms of government where the people have a say.

All of that came from AI and I just copy/pasted.

And from MW:

People who want to quibble, "We're a REPUBLIC, not a DEMOCRACY!!" sound ignorant AF.

I think the classic example was Greece where all the citizens were expected to vote on every measure

And like all true democracies - it failed spectacularly. Because democracy fundamentally is mob rule.

One can make the case that republics are mob rule as well because....who elects the representatives?

That's right - the mob.

Ask some poor conservative in CA or NY or CO...or MD if you don't believe me.

If we really wanted to be a representative republic we'd break things down to the district level so Democrat controlled metro areas don't control the whole state and highly populated states don't control the whole country. There would be no "winner take all" states in our federal elections, electoral votes would be based on district. Democrat controlled states couldn't redraw districts in order to disenfranchise conservatives.

That's right - the mob.
Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. (The rest of the saying is "liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the result").

TRUE democracies - where the people directly make the choices - have been disastrous, because mobs are generally more easily manipulated than intermediaries with some semblance of law. It's why the nations which have survived - which we call "democratic" - are a mixture of socialism and democracy - or monarchy - and democracy - or a republic - and a democracy.

Republics - historically - have built-in checks and balances and adhere to a constitution to protect the public from the whims of the mob.
Minorities are protected under a republic - not so much in a true democracy.

Generally, they can be used interchangeably - it's not for naught that the Democratic Party likes to call this nation a "democracy" because of the optics, while Republicans say the same of a republic.

To be fair - there really is just a hair's difference by definition - in practice, a republic holds law in more regard against the will of the mob.

Looking at our republic right now I can say that's not true. In fact the minority mob is STILL lawless and not being held accountable.

I'd call us a Mediaocracy - owned and completely manipulated by the news and entertainment media industry. Then you look at who controls them and we'd be a Plutocracy or even a Cryptocracy.

I say it all the time and everyone ignores me: the people who really run this country, we don't even know their names. People all, "Oh Obama controls everything!" make me want to choke a bitch. No Democrat whose name you know controls a damn thing - they are the puppets, not the puppet masters.
