I was browsing dog pictures on Woofsites and came across this one. Not so sure I'd use it as my main picture to get people to visit my site. The second picture is down-right funny and the third is amazing. I've never seen a dog so closely resemble a wolf in all my life. The owner doesn't say what kind it is, just Mixed/Other.

Little ol' Me
I met a couple this weekend at the Cobb Island Festival, who run a petsitting business who had two of those dogs that look like wolfs. I asked the man what they were and he said Native American aplichans (sp) I think. They were georgous and huge just like a wolf..

Cool. Now I know what my next dog is going to be. Will have to do the research and find a good breeder nearby.

The closest ones are in Michigan and the pups range from $1000 to $1500 depending on the Sire and Dam. :yikes:

Beautiful creatures though aren't they? :yay:

Absolutely. Our malamute was about that much $$$ so it's ok. I started looking at websites and they seem good tempered like Malamutes but the one thing that stood out is that they shouldn't be crate-trained as they see it as punishment.

Not many breeders to choose from but I've noticed that most only have one Sire and several Dams. That seems odd. My malamute's dad seems to be the main "male" at the breeder but they atleast have other males there. I check periodically to see if she has any half-brothers or sisters. Her mom hasn't been pregnant since mine was born almost a year ago.

I knew that one, just pointing out the other one isn't really wrong the way she used it.

What's wrong with Purina? Are you saying that because I paid alot of money for her, I should pay alot for her food? I thought Purina was decent food, not high-end but not low-end either.

My opinion is that Purina isn't a very good food. It's all about the ingredients.

Their temperament seems very similar to my border collie. To put that dog in a crate would be a travesty and harmful to his mental health. An NAID would be perfect for my household, lots of kids to love and play with, lots of room to run, and no need for a crate or chain. I just can't swing $1000. :bawl:

PS - Chain729, if You're reading this.... i know what i want for Christmas, You have time to save up some $!

The crate is for potty-training and to prevent "puppy destruction" when we aren't home. My malamute is quite content in her crate. Seems like there's a major problems with NAIDs and "recreation" NAIDs. Hard to tell if you're really get one or if you're getting a fake. For that price, I better be getting a real one. Not in the market for another dog yet but when I am, I will keep NAIDs in mind.
