With all of the stores closing in looney leftists run cities due to crime, the next move for the despotic politicians is to start whining about the "Food Desert" that exists whereas there are no stores in the neighborhoods where people can shop for food and other necessities. Of course, the majority of the people who live in those areas are good citizens, but as usual, a few bad apples ruin it for everyone.

The next step is government run food distribution centers with armed guards to make sure everyone stays in line. The "food desert" problem is solved then for the "good of the people".

Why would they make sure people stay in line? Seems much more in character that they would just turn the food over to the local warlords community leaders to distribute as they see fit or just airdrop rations and medicine from the back of a plane like the UN does for some of their humanitarian missions.

I'm thinking of the days of bread lines in the old Soviet Union. It's all about control. Starve the people and make them dependent and you own them.

Yeah, but it's a different kind of control here. There are people that won't stand for bread lines and might organize against it. But you let half the people devolve into chaos and the other half will spend their time worrying about their safety and security without an obvious bad guy to push back against.

The thoughts of those wanting power know that those that defy them will give in when their family members begin to starve or when Grandma can't get her meds.
