Western Maryland Scenic RR

My husband and I and my sister and bil went on steam train ride in Western MD on Saturday. It was a pleasant enough ride and the scenery was very pretty, however, the leaves were not at the peak. We arrived in Frostburg and watched them turn the locomotive around, then walked up quite a few steps to the town of Frostburg. There really wasnt much to do there and its quite a bit of walking uphill. The train personnel were pleasant and the food was okay. Its a nice way to spend an afternoon. I would recommend going for the first class seating as your seats are assigned in the dining car. I would like to try one of the Murder Mystery dinners they have. Anyway, like I said, it was something different to do and the steam locomotive was something to see.

According to this map Fall Foliage Map, leaves are near the peak in that area. Have never done the train to Frostburg. You may want to consider this one as well in the future - Strasburg Rail Road - Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. I love this area of PA!
