Becky - I'm sorry you have no way to support your family

Welcome#- Angel Food Ministries

Give it a try...it's affordable...

I'll be employed shortly...I have an awesome resume and I've been on a couple of interviews.... It'll be ok...we are ok for now....

I just don't want any of my bills to go up without my input... I've always been preaching about the single income family in CRE... and how the Board should consider the inpact on those families... I just happen to be one of those families right now... and it makes my words wring a little louder...:howdy:

Thank you for the kind words....:howdy:

You're a LOON :)
So where is security when all of this is going on? It certainly can't take a few minutes for someone to dig whale fossils out of the cliffs. Security is suppose to protect our amenities. How I see it is that since Security can't really do this (even though our covenants state that is their role), the CRE board makes excuses. They may want to change the governing documents but they haven't yet. It's such a crock and I'm so *issed off. Nest house I buy will not have an HOA that's for sure.

I am DISGUSTED with security right now. That is the BIGGEST waste of time and money. They pick and choose who they pick on and forget about contacting them. Can't even get a phone call back after leaving numerous messages.

I couldn't agree with you more, security is nothing but a waste of money.

Security discovered them... and they kept them off our amenities ...

Then the people from the museum doing the dig... came in by boat...

It doesn't matter how they came in.....they (security) can't do anything and should have called the police. Maybe they did.....so, the museum people came in by boat and I'm sure it took a good amount of time to dig out whale fossils. So, they discovered someone was digging and how far along were they? It's just such a crock......we should be voting on getting Security out of our governing documents. There's no excuse. It'll all be a big secret until we hear we're broke - still - and we need more money to pay lawyers for something that shouldn't have happened to start with. It's a disgrace really. I've just had enough of it. I see Security putting up sign board letters. Really, isn't there a staff person to do this?

 Isn't Calvert Cliffs owned by the state?

...The cliffs are caving in... a foot a year by some estimates... there are plenty of fossils in there. The acess to the cliffs is owned by a private entity... We should have been discussing this in open so that everyone would know just how dangerous this was and just how costly...
.... We have a wonderful opportunity here... we can show the pics and even offer boat rides out to the site.... we should not allow them to step off onto the site because it is very dangerous... but we could show where the whale was found.... but no... run right to a lawyer... don't sit down and negotiate...

If access to the site via land is through the org's land then are they trying to cash in on a scientific find?

Security discovered them... and they kept them off our amenities ...

Then the people from the museum doing the dig... came in by boat...

If you do not grant them access via land then the archaeologists come in via boat, you/they don't own the water so the rent-a-cops can't do squat.

Again, is the association trying to make a buck off of this? If so, it is kind of sleazy.

The more I learn about my community - the more I wish we had bought a waterfront home in St. Leonard, Solomon's - anywhere but CRE...

It just sounds like blatent trespassing to me. There are warning signs posted at the beaches that the cliffs are dangerous etc... I can't see how CRE will make any $$$ off of the find, we'll just be stuck cleaning up the mess because someone will find a way to put it on the HOA. The membership ends up holding the bag and hands will be out that money is needed to fix the problems. Wonder who the lawyer was that botched it???

Wow this is all so cool! I am so impressed with the CRE group for willingly sharing this great find with the Calvert museum.:sarcasm:

I've been reading your responses from today....

Sister-in-law joke.... not so funny....

The Security Crew kept everyone off our property as soon as they discovered the dig... but a private owner [member] allowed them access on their property [above the whale] and the state owns the beach to the the high tide...

John hired a lawyer from Virginia to do this work... who really whapped us with a bill...

I wouldn't be in a real hurry to take this out on the whole community... as I recall it was a real close vote and John just squeaked through... I would blame John tho for presenting a one sided view of this and acting pretty much on his own most of the time....

The whale itself is a historic find.... It proves that the area was once completely covered by water... They say this is the first of it's kind....

I've read this thread and I haven't the slightest idea whats going on.

wtf is CRE?

A housing community in Calvert county, which is overseen by a ragtag bunch of criminals. That is unless you actually win the election, then you are the only one who knows what "is best for the community"........apparently.

I was duped into moving there.....:stupid:

You ask me whose side I'm on... I'm on my side.... I'm a member in good standing laid off due to the housing crunch... struggling to buy bread, mild, fuel, praying over my 401k.... I can't afford to pay for John's sue the world attitude... can you?

This quote is why I included a link to angel ministries. You state you are struggling to buy Bread, Mild - which I am guessing is milk and fuel (either home heating or gasoline). The kink again is Food Menu - Angel Food Ministries There are no forms, no questions, just affordable food about $30 for 1 weeks worth to feed a family of 4.

I understand there are also several no questions asked food pantries in the area - one being at the crossroads church (I am not a member, but a friend is).

Perhaps you should stop concerning yourself with the whale fossil and work a little more at finding a good paying job. I understand you have a teen at home, who needs to go to college in a year or so - Good Luck.

I do find this funny - we (my mother and I) found what was identified by the museum as a whale in the cliffs near Kenwood Beach about 20 yrs. ago (before the bulkhead went in between there and Western Shores). One of the vertebre was visible as well as part of a rib connected to it. The vertebre we could see was easily 8 inches in diameter. We called the Museum and they sent some people out. They dug around some, took pictures, measured and guesstimated how big it was and how much they'd have to dig and decided it would do too much damage to the cliff to dig it out and that it shoud be left where it was. I should also note that the cliff in the area it was in was only about 8 feet high (there was as stream that came out in the general vicinity which I guess had worn down the area) and the owner of the property above was more than willing to let them dig (their house was not near the site).

I guess this one was too hard to resist....

I'm guessing different managers at the Museum.
