I got some pepper plants at a plant swap months back and now they have bore its fruit... this is what they look like... what kind of pepper is this??? Is it edible? If so, and I can get the name I can pick more and look up recipies. Also what kind of bug is this on my pepper plant... are they related? I fought him off the plant and he kept making a clicking sound. Is he good for the plant? Should I put him back? Anyone have a name of this so I can look it up?

If you could focus on the peppers, I could confirm my suspicion of what they are, but I can't tell in your pictures.

I think my camera has crapped out on me... that's about as focused as the camera gets - or I can take 50 pictures and out of 50 I might get one clearly focused picture. So what do you think they are?

I think they are malnourished bell peppers. Did you test the Ph of the soil? Did you amend the soild before planting, or are they in plain clay? Do they get enough sun? Do you fertilize?

They're safe to eat.

Thanks, I was thinking they are bell pepers because the bottom has points if that makes any sense, they are quartered. But I've never seen them soo small. Yes, I feed them and tested the soil a few weeks ago and it was fine, I did several tests.... only place that wasn't fine was way out in the front yard. But it is at the back end of my garden on a slight slope (as my whole garden is on a slope) and I'm thinking it wasn't getting enough water. I didn't water much back there because I figured everything would make its way down there eventually but probably not the case in this drought. Its like they got stuck growing and then just decided to ripen  It will be interesting seeing what these taste like.

Yikes! Found out it was a tobacco hornworm :jameo: Need to go find it and get it out of my garden. I put it back thinking it would be okay :whack: Do these things bite or sting?

No, I don't think they bite. I used to pick them up in the tobacco field when I was a kid. They never bothered me.

I went to look for it out where I put him and he's gone. But I am thinking RoseRed was right on cross pollination... the peppers on that plant are long slender kind like a red pepper or something and the ones to the right of it are green pepper looking (little quarters at the bottom). Maybe I invented a new kind of pepper

They look like Habanero (aka Scotch Bonnet) peppers. The hottest pepper on the planet. Handle with extreme care since they are 50,000 times hotter than a jalepeno.

The first two look like your left hand.

If you camera has a viewfinder, use that instead of the screen.
If you camera came with an owners manual, read it.

If that's what they are, I hope Dems likes them hot! When we were in St. Lucia, we bought some hot sauce made with Scotch Bonnet peppers. Just a few drops of that hot sauce in my chili makes it super hot. :hot:

They are very powerful.
