What grinds you gears?

IN the spirit of Andy Rooney of 60 mins I have decided to rant and rave today.

Why is it that people who ride bicycles to work demand that drivers share the road with them and then do not obey all traffic signs. On my maybe 1 mile commute to work today I was swarmed by 3 bicyclers. They too took up the entire road. There are many empty sidewalks on my commute, use them for your bikes! Then we come to a stop sign and they just continue through it. If i was on a bike that can't weight more then 40 lbs I would be extra careful with a vehicle that is easliy 10 times my weight was coming towards me.

Note to all bicyclers, Please either obey the laws of the road as you would driving a car or get the hell off the road. Thats what grinds my gears. :smack:

All the cyclist/commuters are asking to get hit by a car. The only time I can see not stopping on a bike is if you are turning right and remain on the shoulder at all times. But, if there is no shoulder, then I think EVERY law should be obeyed...JMO :flowers:

Good rant :yay:

...bike riders are their own worst enemies. I almost creamed a guy who came flying through a red light and I said '####!" real loud, window down. We ended up side by side at the next light and he was like "I have a right out here too, you can't yell at me for that!"

I said "Listen, dumb####, I was pizzed because I almost KILLED you and I don't want to deal with that! Look out for yourself!"

He was duly chastened and got my point.

Bike people: WELCOME! Be more careful. My day might be ruined by you running a light but yours will be worse.

 A bicycle is a vehical, it's illegal to ride them on the sidewalks which are reserved for pedesterians. As a vehical, it's required to stop (and wait) for all traffic signals, but unfortunatly, it also has a right to use the road.
Personally, I wouldn't ride a bicycle on any roads around here. Don't think I could maintain the "positive speed differential" I do on my bike

They have the right to be on the road, same as you, and have the same obligation to observe traffic laws - same as you. They can't ride on the sidewalks and most roads around St Mary's that I have seen don't have them anyway.

That said - I'm real careful about riding my bike around the county. I've seen people drive 60 just down my residential road. I seriously doubt they're concerned much with bikers, much less pedestrians, children or pets.
