What I have to gripe about today

It *was* going to be that the IHOP bagged coffee I got, buttery maple flavor, is presweetened (barf) and I don't have backup coffee. It said nothing on the label or ingredients about being sweet. And don't go "Oh well what did you think buttery *maple* would be" because I get maple coffee all the time and it's never been sweet.

But then I took Gretel for a walk and down the path comes this idiot with two Boxers. So I waited for a second to see if he was going to turn around, which is what people usually do, and he didn't so I did. He calls, "They can meet if you want...." and I said no, she's too little and her behavior is unpredictable, which is semi untrue because she meets other dogs all the time, but not two large Boxers at once.

As the guy approaches I pull Gretel way off the path so they can go by, thinking the guy will also give a wide berth. No. He keeps coming. By now his dogs are growling and pulling at the leash lunging at Gretel. And the guy keeps coming. I told him, "Don't come any closer" and I picked Gretel up. THE ****ING GUY STOPS TO TALK TO ME!!! "Oh blah blah blah" while his dogs are lunging and Gretel is freaking out in my arms. I said, "WTF is wrong with you?? Move along." Now his dogs are so freaked out they're trying to hump each other and the guy stands there like a gaping idiot, "What....?"

:burning:

I should be able to shoot him. Like shoot him dead. Or at least injure him in some way, incapacitate him so he can't affect others with his ignorance. But I have faith in karma and I know something bad will happen to him in the near future without my interference because it always does. I just need it to be before his dogs hurt another dog and and permanent enough that the problem is solved.

WTF is wrong with people???

Probably his dogs exhibit behavior like that all the time and he is so used to it, he doesn't realize it.
I had two mostly harmless labs who did that so often, I gave up walking them.
They were VERY friendly around people, but they didn't like other dogs, even though they had never harmed any.

Our tiny little chihuahua/terrier mix is like that, but she is about the size of a cat, so no one is afraid of her.

Not trying to excuse his behavior - anyone with an ounce of sense should have seen your reaction and responded accordingly.

Almost everything *I* gripe about - is related to driving. Yesterday I walked out to the parking lot, and a man was backing up to leave. I waved him out politely - and some moron walks right behind him. I wait for him to pass - then do it again. He gets halfway out - and ANOTHER moron does the same thing. I could see his frustration, but - damn. I smiled, and we shook our heads, and he got out.

What I find irritating is the morons that never acknowledge or look as they are walking through a parking lot. Yes, they do have the right of way, but being in the right doesn't matter if they walk out in front of someone driving through the lot not paying attention.

A friend of mine in Massachusetts used to say that LOTS of people die defending their right of way. KNOWING you have the right of way will not save you if the driver isn't paying attention, and they typically DON'T.

My kids will often "advise" me while driving - 'you should turn, Dad, he's signaling to turn' - and I answer, can't bet my life that he wasn't just too damned STUPID to turn off his blinker. About HALF the time, I'm right.

And this is why I seem to be forgiving and magnanimous - when in fact, I'm just following my normal rule of thumb that people are FAR MORE LIKELY to be stupid, than malicious. To be malicious, they'd have to be consciously thinking about me, and most people are just too into themselves.

I liked all the stuff about striking down and smiting etc. but fell asleep after that.

They should have more action-packed stories to tell.

Were you a motorcyclist in a previous life? :)

We call it being dead right......

And the longest lived amongst us know that its really mostly unconscious, the attempts to kill us. But we lived this long assuming they might turn malicious at any second. :)

WIth some exceptions in social interaction - I'm keenly aware of how my actions affect others - when I drive, where I park, where I navigate in a store. When it comes to people and their foibles, I'm very much "there but for the GRACE OF GOD - go I". I found myself WAY TOO OFTEN in exactly the same situations I'd previously judged others on - and I learned a basic rule of life - it's always harder when it happens to YOU.

Years ago, I would drive in dim weather without my lights on (nowadays, doesn't matter - my car has them on all the time). I would claim - "I can easily see without them". And a co-worked said "Sam, this is PG County - do you think these morons can SEE YOU without your lights on? Wanna bet your LIFE?".

I got it. You can be smart, but don't count on others to be.

I strive myself, and taught my kids what I call the Golden Rule of traffic. At no point should your actions when driving make someone else change what they are doing. Can't really be done, but by always trying to do that, you make it better for everyone.

When the big yellow rubber duckie was at the Leonardtown Wharf last year, that was what was happening. People just aimlessly walking through the streets, not paying attention to traffic, letting their kids just wander around. I know pedestrians have the right of way, but, use some damn common sense!!!

Back to the OP - I'm betting this whole problem is you. You were amped up because your coffee wasn't what you expected. Then with that negative energy you take your dog out for a walk. Gretel senses your emotions so more than likely she was a little amped up too. When you see the "guy" with two boxers heading your way you freaked a little more and put off more negativity that impacted the boxers too. Snatching Gretel up showed the boxers her weakness, thus their desire to dominate. I think you should contact Cesar Millan, he might be able to help.

They told us in Russia - THERE - pedestrians do NOT have the right of way, and drivers may intentionally try to harass you if you're in the street.
More than once I crossed a side street, and the assw!pe at the end of the road jumped into high gear.

Years ago I worked in Leonardtown but didn't live here. Every time there was an event or the carnival, co-workers would be complaining and dreading it. I wondered why they were so grouchy about a fun event. Now that I lived here for a number of years, I know why. I've turned into the same grouch. People that come here are absolutely clueless.
