What is an Infrared Receiver?

But wait, there's more...
What's the point of having one of these on a laptop? What does it do? I noticed it on a couple models I'm looking at, but don't see a description of what it's for.

It can do a lot more. If a printer has an infrared port, you can connect to your printer without wires. If you turn on infrared on two nearby computers, you can establish a network link and share files. If you have a PDA with infrared, you can sync to your laptop without a USB.

Infrared receiver is a football player who is positioned at the end of the line of scrimmage or off the line of scrimmage, who wears a number 49 and below or 80 and above who is eligible to catch a pass, who is so fast you cannot see him because he does not reflect visible light.

Works great in meetings. Works just like a BlackBerry or any other PDA with infrared. You can transfer files, pictures and text each other and noone knows what is going on.
