What is good for a burn?

If you don't have Aloe Gel and have a Vitamin E capsule open it up and put on the burn. It will relieve the stinging almost immediately and help to begin healing the skin.

And for goodness sakes dont put ice water or butter on it. I have no idea why people do that stuff.

If it is a burn past a layer or two of skin its best to leave it and not put anything on it..a superficial burn, vitamin e is ok.

There is nothing better than 100% Aloe. Apply several applications within a few minute period, then fresh layers every hour or so.

Good..it can cause infection. as long as the skin is intact youre fine..try to keep the area clean thats really the most important. Also, if you are a diabetic..make an appt with your doc..i have seen simple burns turn nasty with diabetics pretty quick.

Burns suck. But if you keep em clean and in air they heal up pretty nicely. If it is in an awkward spot you can put a nonadherent dressing on while sleeping.

NEVER put petroleum ointment on a burn. It can make it worse.
Aloe is the best or any type of burn ointment that is available at the drug store.

Surely you jest ...
It's a good idea I think for everyone to keep a Aloe Vera plant in your home. Easy to care for and handy. My hand was burned badly flipping a potato pancake years ago. The grease came up and over like a wave.

As I watched in horror as my skin literally shriveled up on the whole top and between index and thumb area and disappeared within seconds. Leaving only pink tissue. I broke off a large stem of the plant it broke open and drizzled it all over burn. Wrapped in a clean gauze and headed for ER. Dr said it was the best thing I could have done. Told me to leave it for 24 hours and then change bandage applying the silver cream he gave me. Never had a scar one. Healed beautifully.

Absolutely! If you have an aloe plant that's the best. Simply slit the leaf open and apply to burn and wrap gauze around it if you can.

Never use any kind of oil on a burn!

Tea Tree oil. Or Melaleuca oil...really helps alot. They sell it at Good Earth store, Woodburns, some drug stores, etc.

I always use the 100% aloe gel and yes fresh aloe from a plant is amazing but less convenient. If I'm rushing for work I sometimes burn my forehead w/the curling iron (brilliant I know!) and I take aloe with me and apply several times throughout the day and it never scabs or leaves a scar. The stuff is amazing! Walmart/Target sell the small bottle which is great to leave in the car, take in your purse, take to the beach... this is the best stuff I've ever used on any kind of burn.

Be sure to keep an eye on your burn, as they can get infected. If the pain increases or if it feels like it is "throbbing" you may want to get it checked at the doc. A burn that becomes infected can be a very bad thing.

Feel better soon!!
