...but it's nasty. I could easily buy a pizza or a steak and cheese sub or a candy bar or an ice cream or a checkers chili cheeseburger with chili cheese fries.sockgirl77 said:Don't you work at a damn grocery store. Walk your skinny ass over to the produce section and chomp into an orange. Better yet, walk over to your favorite section and open a can of coconut soda.
I love carrots.BuddyLee said:...but it's nasty. I could easily buy a pizza or a steak and cheese sub or a candy bar or an ice cream or a checkers chili cheeseburger with chili cheese fries.
Doesn't that sound better than carrots and bressel sprouts?
Everything serves its purpose... but you wouldn't be asking about healthier alternatives if you didn't have a reason...BuddyLee said:...but it's nasty. I could easily buy a pizza or a steak and cheese sub or a candy bar or an ice cream or a checkers chili cheeseburger with chili cheese fries.

Can I come and eat at your house? Your kitchen contains much healthier food than mine.virgovictoria said:I eat at LEAST one of these items daily (usually several), have most of them regularly in my home and definitely include them in my diet routinely!

Sure. You can stop by anytime. The door is always open for you.virgovictoria said:Can I bring the food to your house? It's much cleaner than mine!

I'm hoping that after this year at school I'll have a bit more time to hit the gym and a bit more money to buy better foods. However, if somethings on my plate I might as well at least try it out.jazz lady said:Ick.
BL, I applaud you for recognizing a problem before it becomes out of control. I've had to unlearn a lot of bad habits in the last year or so and it's not easy retraining your tastebuds but it can be done. Slowly introduce better choices in your diet by experimenting with differnt fruits and veggies and you will do well, grasshopper.
Fresh veggies are cheaper than any combo/value meal.BuddyLee said:I'm hoping that after this year at school I'll have a bit more time to hit the gym and a bit more money to buy better foods. However, if somethings on my plate I might as well at least try it out.

I can already feel the negative effects from eating crap.
I understand about school, believe me. But there ARE better choices out there without having to sacrifice cost and time. You can eat the steak and cheese sub, but only half and replace the other half with a salad or veggies. Little things like that add up BIG time. And never be afraid to try new things. It's the spice of life.BuddyLee said:I'm hoping that after this year at school I'll have a bit more time to hit the gym and a bit more money to buy better foods.
