What kind of franchise would you start in St. Mary's County?

Starting a franchise business is just a thought I've been throwing around. I realize that many businesses won't allow you to start something in our area because of the location/smaller population. Still...it would be great to bring something new to the area. Any ideas on what might be useful down here in St. Mary's County?

As it seems has been mentioned a million times - an Olive Garden. I think an Olive Garden would make a fortune down here.

That said, we love the Melting Pot restaurants, but my wife and I are split over whether or not one would succeed down here - she thinks it would, I think it wouldn't.

I think some kind of plain family restaurant like Denny's or Friendly's would probably do well. I kind of miss the old Perkins.

Someone else mentioned Dairy Queen - I think ANY ice cream franchise would do well. And I think a standalone Dunkin' Donuts would do well, too.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say:

SONIC, BABY!!!

Other franchises that would make me burst with joy like a stick of dynamite:

Weinershnitzel
Carl's Jr.
Jack in the Box
Steak N Shake
Joe's Crab Shack <-- kidding
Tony Roma's
In and Out burger
Rosatti's Pizza
Vivas Burritos

VD or pre-teen pregnancy clinic, I wouldn't even put doors on the front, they'd just get wore da hell out!!

They had a Friendly's down here.
Over where Bob Evan's is now.

They absolutely sucked.

I don't blame Friendly's though.... I've been to some Friendly's before that didn't suck. It was just that particular establishement was a major suck-fest.

And I forgot in my last post:

Macaroni Grill.

That would so rule.

I love the Baja Fresh idea...I wish Olive Garden would put something down our way. Are the rumors still floating around about one being built behind Target or have those died down?

I'd like a Rita's closer to my house; like next door. I'd also like a woodcraft supply down here.

Another idea I've tossed around - and I would so do this if I had a single entrepreneurial bone in my body:

Drive-In Movie theater.

My personal favorite :yahoo:

I LOVE the drive-in!! We had one up here at the race track after dark and it seemed to be doing well - zillions of cars to see a double-feature of older action movies (Days of Thunder, Top Gun, etc).

Then they shut it down to do night racing.

If I had the money, I'd buy a huge chunk of land and open a drive-in.
