What kind of franchise would you start in St. Mary's County?

Another idea I've tossed around - and I would so do this if I had a single entrepreneurial bone in my body:

Drive-In Movie theater.
seasonal and requires to much real estate.

If I had the money, I'd buy a huge chunk of land and open a drive-in.

Well there goes my question.

I was going to ask if I could borrow, like 20 grand and I'd put it all together.

Chipotle. We're getting one

Waffle House. But I guess they'd have to make 235 an Interstate first.
I think a resturant that serves food late night on the weekends would be great. As it is now, the only option for a sit down meal after 10 p.m. is IHOP

They had a Friendly's down here.
Over where Bob Evan's is now.

To my knowledge, Bob Evan's does very well. I think something LIKE a Friendly's or Denny's would do well.

And the reason I DON'T think a Melting Pot would do well is, their menu is rather expensive so they depend on superb service. You can't have a staff that dumps the straws on the table and chats on their cell while you wait for food to get cold in the kitchen - and then charge them 80 to 100 bucks for their meal. Pretty much every restaurant in St Mary's that I've been to, I've received bad service more often than good (with the sole exception of Monterey's). The only reason I go back to Outback for example, is the food - even with call ahead seating, I wait forever.

My wife's brother is a manager in Seattle's expensive restaurants - he works in the kind that Bill Gates goes to, to get away from everyone. He often says that people will go back to a restaurant that has mediocre food if they have fantastic service, and I agree.

The Friendly's in PF also went kaput, and my experience there was similarly bad - their service sucked. But I've been to Friendly's all over the country, and they've been good elsewhere. Same with Denny's. Granted, most of these have been in resort type towns - so they kind of depend on good service.

I agree that ANY major Italian franchise would do well here, including Macaroni Grill.

See, that's what I remember going to Denny's and Friendly's for - late night food at Denny's, desserts late at Friendly's.

You could rent out the space during the off-season, and during the days for bazaars, and farmer's markets, etc. Or hold drag races!

And it's not like we don't have any undeveloped land in this enormous rain-forest.

Where the BAE (old Lowes) is used to be a drive in

I'm not hungry right now, so I can't think of a thing. :ohwell: A decent Italian Restaurant would be nice. Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill would probably do a killing, even though I'm not a huge fan of anything at the Olive Garden other than their salad and breadsticks. :yay:

what about daycare, like a Kindercare or Lapetite. There is not alot of daycare near the base for infants to 4 yrs of age.
