I was lucky that gurl didn't like the pacifier, but I had to watch her blankets and comforters. She'd suck on them until they fell apart. As she got older she still sucked her thumb. I kept pulling it out of her mouth and telling her it was nasty. One day she came crying that her thumb hurt. She had sucked it until it was dry and cracked. I told her if she'd stop putting it in her mouth, it would get better. She stopped sucking it.

hmmm I am going to catch grief for this, but if he is spitting it out because he is restless and over tired try to dip it in a little bit of sugar water.

 Oldtimer...you know you can't do that now. That's why we have all these flatheaded babies that don't learn to crawl until they should be walking.
Friggin medical community can't make up their friggin minds.. lay them on their backs, lay them on their sides, lay them on the tummies.. DON'T ever lay them on their tummies..

ALL of my kids always slept on their stomachs or their sides. and Nicholas does NOT like laying on his back..

 My son always slept on his side, by choice. I'd put him on his back, he'd hike his legs up in the air and fall over to his side and fall asleep.

None of them like sleeping on their backs. Mine always slept on their side, I'd roll up a receiving blanket to keep them kinda on their side. My grandkids had the wedge thing that kept them on their side. Now, they have to be on their backs. Although, the other day I was at Georgetown's NICU visiting my boss's premie and they had him on his belly for a while. I said "hmmm..." The nurse said, "well, he's on a monitor..but they do sleep better, I'll admit that."

See, when my kids were babies they said NEVER lay them on their backs always on their tummies. I pretty much did the side laying, with a baby blanket rolled up behind them for support.
