what the heck is this

BadGirl

I am so very blessed
I had a spider like that last fall on my night stand. I swear the thing was as big as a Frisbee. It freaked the bejeezus out of me.

this is the first time i ever saw this around here and today i found this and squished a smaller one about the size of a half dollar. who can tell me what it is and if it is harmful to humans

I always called them garden spiders... there was a HUGE/FAT one in the house this weekend and there were people over and everyone was afraid to get it so I called them a bunch of Ninnies... and went to get it and when I scooped it into the jar about 50+ little babies were running out of her and all over the place. :ohwell:

Well after everyone screaming about this spider, I got accused of being insensitive to it while it was giving birth and I "separated her from her babies" I just didn't want the dog or cats getting to it and put it outside. :ohwell:

It was not giving birth. It was spawning evil replicas of itself! :killingme

I didn't know what was going on at first, I just saw all these baby bugs running around all over the place. :barf:

Calvert Newbie is right. It is a Wolf spider.

Check out this link for spiders in Maryland from UMD.

Spiders in Maryland

Check out the one I found in my barn...

I love what they have to say in the last line for the Wolf Spider....

"Exclusion is the best way to keep them outdoors".

Translated: "Keeping them out of the house, is the best way to keep them out of the house". Thanks for that bit of insightful knowledge.

For entertainment WWF style, put two of them in the same jar. Better yet, find a Black Widow and put it in the same jar as the wolf spider. :yay: good stuff! Definitely post-worthy material!
