I was just thinking last night. When she gets treats and such she is prob not used to tasting them anyways as she usually just swallows! She is feeling much better, was carrying her ball around and begging for food last night. Gave her some chicken bits that she didnt chew and just swallowed!

Thats good to hear!

Not sure what is going on now. She has been doing great since we backed down on the antibiotics until tonight. She was fine when I went to bed. Noticed about an hour ago that she hadnt come into the bedroom and gotten in bed. She was in one of the other rooms and it is like her stomache is clenching/pushing. I put her outside thinking maybe she was a little constipated and had to go. She threw up a little and pushed out a little diareahha (sp?). Took her temp. 100.8. Called vet that is on call tonight and he does not seem concerned, said to withhold food and water (dont think she would eat or drink as she seems to feel like crap!) She seems to be resting comfortably now. Like night and day, when I started typing she was still spasming/heaving/whatever she was doing, now she seems fine and is sleeping. I feel a little silly now for being so worried. I guess because she was acting like that when I took her in on Monday. Wonder if it could possibly been that she didnt get her pain pill this evening because my hubby is sick( he is the pill giver) and I could not get the pill down her throat (she is nearly impossible with pills when she does not feel good!) I did manage to get a pill in her shortly after i noticed her acting like that thinking it might have been pain. Maybe that was it? Guess I will just keep an eye on her tonight. We were going to see about moving our appointment for the blood work from tomorrow to wed or so since I have to take her in to get her staples out anyways. But guess we will be making 2 more trips to the vet this week instead of 1. This is one of those times when I wish we used a closer vet! (30 min drive there.

Sounds like heaves..or stomach spasms/abdominal cramps. Good idea to withhold food and water till morning.
Her temp is in normal limits, so that is a good sign.

She has had a rough time and it will take time to get better.

If there is no blood in vomit or stool, that is a good sign!

Keep her warm and quiet and let this run it course and see how she is doing in the morning.

Nope no blood. Yeah it is heave like. Just scared me because she was doing the same thing if anyone touched her tummy when i took her in on Monday. Vet said it was due to pain. Doesnt help that hubby is sick with some sort of stomache issue and couldnt help me with her (mainly emotional support). Thanks everyone who has provided advice, encouragement and kindness! It has helped..me at least.

Poor pup. Just when you think all is fine BAM it starts all over. I'm going through the same thing. Marely was doing great after her spay and pyomerta surgery and now shes bleeding. It was heavy, stopped, spotted, and now a little heavy. Surgery again for her. I really hope your pup gets better. Im a nervous wreck over mind so i know how you feel.:huggy:

Sorry to hear your girl isnt doing well. Poor thing. Hope yours gets better soon too!

Poor Pup! Poor Mama!! Pain Medication causes Constipation in Humans, and maybe even Dogs. I've never heard of witholding Water though, but I am not a Vet. Water is the mainstay of life, and could help IF she is constipated. I would take her to the Doc soon, just to be safe. Usually, animals are very good about masking pain, but it sounds to me like she's in some serious pain that needs to be addressed. I might be wrong, but if she were mine..I'd go to the Vet soon. Please keep us posted, and well wishes to the Pup.

Had to get up early and chase down a loose horse. So figured i might as well give an update on my girl Minx. Went to our appointment on monday. She was still doing the heaving thing...untill we saw the vet. Did her bloodwork. It came back better but still not normal. White cell count started at 50000 last monday, was 46000 when we left vet on thurs to bring her home. On mon it was like 34000..still way high but better. Did ultrasound and vet saw a little liquid in her abdomen. Hopefully she is not abcessing again, but vet not sure whet it might be. Vet talked about more surgery, what we can afford and what is fair to Minx. Came home mon and she ate dinner that night.threw up early tues morning not much food mostly liquid. Has not wanted to eat mutch since then but i have gotten her to nibble on some things. She is very tired again doesnt want to move around much. She does wake up when i move around the house and will relocate to whichever room i am in. She goes back in today to get her staples out. Might ceck bloodwork again, maybe another ultrasound. Crossing fingers and praying, hope there will be more improvement. I have feeling somethimg is not right though. For her to be almost 100% over the weekend, then crash on sunday night/monday..and she is still not herself again. Just gives me a bad feeling. I def do not want her suffering, and i dont feel that she is yet,but.... guess i just will just wait and see.

Waiting is the difficult part . We had a Yorkie 17 years that we waited TOO long and had to suffer a W/E watching him until Mon morning when our Vet put him to sleep . I pray & hope All goes well .
