What Vitamins and/or Supplements Do You Take?

Just a Flintstones chewable a day! :diva: I get sufficient vitamins and minerals through my food throughout the day. I do take Vitamin D when I remember (and I don't have a bottle in the house so obviously I'm not great at remembering) because my doctor told me that people with fair skin should supplement. I don't get sick (now that I said that I'll wake up tomorrow with a sore throat) and have healthy skin, nails and hair so I must be doing something right.

My mom takes a lot of supplements and I did for awhile too, but it didn't make me feel any different than my Flintstones.

I eat really well too. When I had bloodwork done last year it was all perfect other than the Vit D. I attribute that to having it done in February when I make it a point to make myself a hermit. I have overly healthy skin. Went to the dermatologist because while breakouts are minimal it's like a freaking oil slick. He told me to be happy that it's like the fountain of youth for my face. Since taking the Panotheic Acid I've noticed the shine factor is down. My nails are good and my hair is good at the scalp but since I dry and straighten it daily the ends get chewed. Never hurts to help it from the inside.

Flintstone are the same thing... if you look at the back of the bottles... you need to take 4 to equal an adult multi vitamin.

its only 1-2, actually. I took flinstones as a prenatal, doc said 2, only because I needed an extra boost of folic acid. The amounts of most of the vitamins aren't diff. EXCEPT if you use the flinstones gummies, then its more.. gummies have less vitamins in each. Dont take four flinstones, :lmao: its overkill.

Most vitamins are sort of useless because almost all of the ones in multis are water soluable and you just pee out the extra. But it doesn't hurt, and can probably fill in any gaps. Most people, even not so great eaters fulfill what they need through their meals. Except for vitamin D, most women need extra help with that especially if they (like me) don't drink milk and stay out of the sun.

I have been on and off of mega doses of D a few times, doc will give it, one a week for awhile, then I take a break. I DO notice an energy diff, so I try to take D pills daily, I just never remember.

I do supplement with whey protein and I take oxy elite pro during the work week. I try to take a multi when I remember, just for the fun of it and I am taking a look at adding whey with BCAAs for after I start my "for real" workout next week :bann: still haven't figured all that out yet

I tried fish oil, I know a bunch of people that swear by it for everything from skin to hair to stomach to weight loss..I just can't do it :lmao: those pills are huge and gross. I would just rather go eat some sushi:drool:

Fish oil makes me gain weight for some odd reason.

I take:

Chromium Picolinate

B-12

Magnesium

Zinc

multi

1,000 mg vitamin C

I got laughed at this past weekend because I double fisted and downed a mouth full of stuff. I do realize that I probably take more than most people but I figure there's got to be some other weirdos like me out there. I can't take a multi-vitamin because they literally make me sick to my stomach so I take what I want/need.

Daily:
Maca Root (for endocrine system support)
Magnesium (nerve and muscle support, have a pinched occipital nerve)
Zinc (again muscle support)
B Complex (metabolism)
Pantholic Acid (great for the skin)
Chromium Picolinate (insulin/blood sugar, diabetes runs rampant in my family)
A Hair, Skin, and Nails Complex (I'm mean to my hair so it needs all the help it can get)
Vitamin D (I have a deficiency)
Beta Carotine (for my peepers)

What do you take?

They say that vitamin supplements are unnecessary in a well balanced diet. Unless deemed medically necessary, you probably don't need most of what you are taking.

One single pill.....Centrum Silver.

I would avoid all of those centrum supplements (produced by Pfizer). Sure, they contain all the essential nutrients the OP mentioned, but they also contain a plethora of additives, artificial food coloring, and a multitude of things I've never heard of/wouldn't dare attempt to pronounce.

Go for the organic brands, at least you know you're getting "just the good stuff".

You are correct in thinking that most vitamins are useless, because most vitamins are synthetically made. When someone takes a synthetically made vitamin, the body treats it like foreign object and tries to expel it.

However, if you take vitamins that are produced from whole foods and real plant sources, your body can recognize and process them. Hence, you will absorb more of the essential nutrients.

That being said, ditch the Flintstones (just like ABC did in '66) and opt for an organic "whole food" vitamin.

The pile of vitamins I take daily makes me feel like an addict but the benefits I've felt health-wise since starting them are worth their weight in gold:

Biotin (I had fake nails and I took them off, so this is for nail/hair/skin support)
Vitamin D3 (I'm deficient)
Fish Oil (for heart health)
Calcium-Magnesium-Zinc (for bone/muscle support)
Multi for Her (to fill in some of the gaps)
Cinnamon plus Chromium (blood sugar support)
Pantothenic Acid (I've got horrific skin, this helps)
Maca Root (endocrine system support)
7-Keto Dhea (for weight support)
Relora (for stress and weight support)

Yeah, I prob'ly could be like my Mom and my Grandfather before her, and take a handful of vitamins every day, vice one "multi-vitamin" with God-knows-what-else in it.

I really can't give you any kind of feedback because I'm 1/2 through my cycle and I've been missing doses. My numbers (reps and lbs) are going up though. So maybe there is something there.

You are a USPLabs user... try Compound 20 yet? I'm curious about trying the Green Apple Jack3d.
