the poor dad
As I'm reading the news this morning, I'm realizing how much power the government has over us, who I thought were FREE AMERICANS! Police dispersing crowds in the French Quarter because of Wuhan. Police shooting citizens on Miami Beach because of Wuhan. Ohio governor considering closing pubs/bars/restaurants because of Wuhan.
So how would that work here in St. Mary's or even Maryland? I patronized local restaurants Thursday & Friday nights and I feel sorry for the owners and the workers because of the effects already seen over the hysteria. As a small business owner, the government already is in my business too much with regulations. If they force me to close because of Wuhan, at this point I feel I will go down fighting. I will continue doing my part in the next couple of weeks patronizing local businesses, as I always do, as long as my government allows me. Do people realize the trickle down effects of this hysteria?
Will martial law be enacted in this county or state? How will that work? Will there be national guard posted at the end of each county road prohibiting movement? Who will be considered essential if there are exceptions? I'm a farmer. Am I essential? We have a window of about 2 months to get our crops in the ground. Will we be prevented from doing that? Then what - no food next year because of martial law this year? Not everyone can telework. Yeah, I have self driving tractors, but I still have to load the seed in the planter and sit in the tractor seat to push the buttons to tell it to drive itself.
Like @Yooper did a couple days ago trying to start a conversation about what the president should have/should do, I am looking for discussion on how far people think this will go. As we've seen from some forum members here (@truby20 ), the panic is real. I think the president has been forced to bow to those panicking with some of his decisions. Will we see a well regulated militia come to life? Will this be the next civil war some have been talking about?
