If you had a loaf of bread and two pieces of it got molded, would you.....

A. Throw the whole loaf away

or

B. Just throw the two pieces away and eat the rest of the loaf

I pitched the whole loaf away today and a coworker says she would of just pitched the two pieces.

Just curious to see what you would do?

Just read an article about this on MSN... they say THROW THE WHOLE LOAF AWAY
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, mold can grow where you can't see it, especially in high-moisture or porous foods. So if you see mold on foods such as bread, soft cheeses, grain, meats, dairy foods, or fruits and vegetables, it's best to throw out the entire package.

I throw the whole thing away. Even if you can't see any mold on the rest of the bread, the spores are already there and growing. :twitch:

I'm totally psychotic when it comes to stuff like this. First when I get bread home from the grocery store if I'm not going to use it immediately I put it in the freezer. When it makes it out of the freezer for it's first use (yes I either have to wait for a few slices to thaw or put them in the mic for a few seconds) it gets stored in the fridge. I go to the grocery store on pretty much a weekly basis and the loaf of bread gets replaced.

Same way with milk. Not the freezer part but "out with the old, in with the new."

Gross... But I watched a coworker pull two slices of bread from a loaf she keeps here in the kitchen this morning. She proceeded to complain that there was mold in several spots on the bread. Instead of tossing it, she just plucked the moldy spots off and eat the bread. Guess she won't be coming in to work tomorrow!!! :dead:

Least I'm honest. And if you ever dine at my house you can rest assured that you're eating food that hasn't been contaminated with any funk or growth.
Just teasing you. :smooch: I'm pretty anal about food and its preparation, too. I am constantly cleaning any surface it touches and the utensils to prepare it. I go through tons of paper towels as I don't like to use dish towels because they harbor so much crud. If any food looks the least bit suspicious, out it goes - no questions asked.
