What's growing at Bowles Farms

What are the plants with the yellow/orange blooms at the farm? Seems late for punkins.

Well I would think that's all they could be but aren't punkins vine plants? These plants aren't "vining".

Not all pumpkins vine, the varieties that don't are nicer in the field, they stay in nice rows.

Well these have a lotta growing to do to be ready by Halloween.

It's not late. Summer squash grows quickly, or it could be winter squash. :shrug:

I'm thinking more than likely it's pumpkins. Usually that field is full of them come fall. I love going there with the kids so they can pick out there pumpkins.

Good source from Bowles farm told me that they are punkins....they plant them every year so that the people that go to the maze can pick them

Last year they had them planted on the corner of Pincushion and 234

It's punkins....They come out just in time and the school kids get them on their class trips...Not the real big record setting punkins but the little ones the kids can handle...He has the bees out there now...See the boxes at the ends of the fields? Corn maze is shaping up nice too...

Love watching the shucking contest!! You know, this might be the first year in FOREVER that we don't make it. It always falls on the weekend of my birthday, and this year, we're thinking about going to Pennsylvania that week. Might just have to wait until the day after the Festival to leave!!
