What's the "best" restaurant in the Waldorf area?

Bone Big... big bone... I stand corrected. Then it's Big Fish and Yellow Fin (?) whatever that place is on Rt 2 by the Chevy's.

Which by the way isn't bad either.

Come ALL THE WAY DOWN THE ROAD to St. Mary's or Calvert county, a whole half hour to 45 minutes, and take your pick of local seafood restaurants, supplied by the hard-working and always struggling watermen, and prepared by caring people who really know how to cook it right.

Absolutely, and most of the money stays local. There are a few really good mom and pop's in the area. Thompson's is good, there's a lttle carryout place behind Lee's market in Glymont, Cap't Billy's in popes creek (closed for the season?), Shymansky's in Cobb Island, Jerry's in Prince Frederick

There are others I can't remember because I've only been once or twice.

IMO, The big chain's give consistency, not-so-good. I prefer taking a chance on a local rather than throwing money at what I already know is so-so.

Sunday, I stopped at Bill's BBQ place at the intersection of 231 and 381 (Patuxent). Got some chicken and a pork sandwich. Both of which were very good.

On another note, anybody try the new place beside D&S glass on 925?

Our go to place is Loredos in White Plains. Nice quite Mexican joint.

Ouzos in LaPlata. Nice quiet Greek joint.

Prime Street Grill in White Plains.

Wanna try out Blue Dog in Port Tobacco. I hear it's pretty mealing but it's busy and that's a demerit for me.

We enjoy the less busy, non-cookie cutter establishments.

Never heard of the place before but it seems to be getting rave reviews per the link below.. sounds like worth checking out!

Silver Skewers - Waldorf, MD

After looking at this for a week, I HAD TO GO! IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! I wanted to stay and try everything! I had the salmon, hubby had steak & shrimp all were EXCELLENT and the saffron rice was amazing! We also got the Persian baklava and cinnamon ice cream, which I already knew from previous experience I would love! YOU HAVE TO GO!!!

Definitely Silver Skewers - I take everyone I know there. Consistently good over 10+ years.

Prime Street Grille - also nice

Casey Jones - not as good as it used to be, but decent

Ouzo's - good food; not thrilled with the atmosphere.

If you want the best pizza - try OBO's in Smallwood Village (owned by the people who own Ouzo's) - wood fired brick oven - the pizza is amazing. Eating in store, not so much.

North of Waldorf, there's a very good italian place - Roma's I think is the name of it - it's right there with Bonefish.

Personally, I like to stay away from the chain restaurants. They always seem good when they first open then go to crap after a year or so when the quality control people have vacated. Privately owned restaurants seem to keep up their quality in order to compete - or they disappear quickly.

This sounds like a good idea. Can you drop any names?

Definately the best brick oven pizza. But your right about the seating at their place in Smallwood. If you want eat in pizza go to Ouzo's. Same pizza in a nicer seating area.

Best BBQ by far! "Sonny's " is a little BBQ "shack on Rte. 236 Thompson Corner Rd in Mechanicsville. About 1/2 mile from Rte.5/235. Chicken, ribs are awesome! Try the potato salad best I have ever had. We buy 5lbs of it whenever we attend a function where we are to bring food. Everyone who has tried it they love it!

That little shack with the junk lawnmowers and stuff in the yard? Stopped there once, wasn't impressed.
