Don't forget to check the resolution on it to.

Full HD is 1080, but a lot of the cheaper HD tvs marketed are only running 720 although that is still better than the 480 for standrard TV. Recently when I was looking for a HD tv I noticed that if the tv didn't support 1080 then a lot of times the packaging/specs listed for the tv would put the resolution in small print or make it hard to find. If the tv supports 1080 they tend to make that fact pretty bold.

Personally I went with a Sharp 42" AQUOS LCD.

Good luck

:yay:

I will never buy a plasma. I'm comfortable with LCD and DLP.

Plasma has burn-in problems, but I've had that on my CRT before. The MSNBC America's News Channel logo was burned into the bottom-right of the screen. :burning:

I'm gonna get a 22" widescreen LCD for my computer and setup an HDTV set with PIP so I can watch the IRL and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races on the same screen at the same time. :yay:

We've got a Samsung 62" DLP!!! :larry:

9.5 out of 10. Make sure you get a 5 or 10 year Service Plan, they'll replace the bulbs for free then. It will cost a few hundred every couple of years if you don't.

We got a Misubishi projection (DLP).. somewhat bulky, but the picture is OUTSTANDING..

It seems the further we stand away from it the better the picture.

And watched an exhibition NFL game on HD.. DAMN that was slick..

You can count the blades of grass on the astroterf, can't even see the football on SDTV.

You can even see the debris on the racetrack in the NASCAR races.

Another reason to go with LCD: screen glare. LCD's give off much less glare (from sunshine and lights) than plasmas do. If your tv is gong to be in a room that gets lots of sunlight...go with an LCD.
I thought they figure Plasma's life span to be about 5 - 7 years, and that for most consumers they won't have their first one paid off before they need a nother one.

Gone are the days of 30 and 40 year old TV's still working..

I have a 12 year old Toshiba laptop with an LCD screen. Guess what, the LCD screen still works. :jet:

I believe the 5- 7 years come from an average families daily usage.. and how many hours a plasma is supposed to last.

I've seen one that lasted less then 6 months as it was on CNN all day. The tickers burned in on the bottom of the screen.. the logo burned in.. Not a very good looking picture after just a few months.

I've got a 20 yr. old RCA tv upstairs, still working fine! I am seriously considering looking at other RCA's. Gonna check the reviews on their 42" models. Who knows

They're not RCA anymore.. The name is still out there, but the RCA company died years ago.. I think Audiovox owns the name, and markets TV's and electronics with the RCA name on it.
