What's the going rate for tire mount/balance?

Just got this year's autocross tires delivered by UPS because nobody sells them locally. Tried taking them to BJs to have them mounted and balanced on a set of wheels and they wouldn't do it because I didn't buy the tires from BJs. Good to see that, in this economy, there are companies doing well enough to turn down a paying customer asking them to do pretty much what they do all day long.

Anyway, I'm open to opinions for a place to get this work done. Last time I took a set to the local Goodyear and/or Firestone shop I left with a $80-100 tab and that sounds kinda high to me. Where does this crowd go to get tires mounted and balanced? I'd like to have it done in time for the weekend and not have to pay an arm and a leg.

Harbor Freight, buy the tire changer and do them yourself..

OR the Auto shop on base and do it yourself.

Curtis Tire, believe it or not. They do a good job on my 275/40/20s:)

I will second the vote for Curtis Tire...They mounted tires, put on rims and even installed lift kit on my Jeep couple years ago, no problems.

I will definitely use them again.

If you bought them from the Tire Rack, they list local installers.

Got them from Treadzone.com. Tire Rack, which is my first choice, doesn't sell Toyos.

I made some calls and went with Pep Boys, which did the job for $41.XX - we'll see how the balance job is once I get the tires on the car sometime this week.

Nah, aps, that list is old, and not accurate. And most of the places on the list dont even know they are:)

I had 2 tires (on my F-250) installed, balanced, new valve stems, and lifetime balance for $32 (TOTAL) at Wal-Mart. Get their early in the morning, and the wait shouldn't be too long.

I believe when we got our tires mounted/balanced, he charged a couple of dollars more for my husband's suv versus my car, but it was relatively inexpensive and I've never had a bad experience with using Big Ed's.

Mr. tire in Dunkirk did a good job on the 225/50/18's that I got from Tire Rack. $25 a piece for mount, balance, valve stems and disposal

I won't ever go to Mr Tire. They were bad to me once and that's all it takes to get on my schitt list forever.
