Hmm...if an animated show comes on at night (unless it's on a kid channel), that's usually a good hint it's not for kids. OH, and the parental warning is also a clue.

The Flintstones was a prime time show when it first came out.

One year my oldest asked for an army of giant mutant insects. He went to bed on Christmas Eve all siked up and got up in the morning and immediately looked out to see if Santa had left them on the lawn.

Instead he got a letter from Santa explaining how an army of giant bugs would be detrimental to the environment and would eat the rainforest. He'd recently learned about the rainforest in school, so he understood Santa's concern and forgave him.

Yeah, but how long ago was that? It started in 1960. I'd say television was not the same then as it is now.
