What's your crab dip recipe?

I made it last night and it was so good! Easy to make with plenty of it leftover. I added pepper jack cheese, and more cheese in general, to the recipe Dawn linked. Served on slices of baguette. We had to force ourselves to put it away so we'd have room for our steaks

That is gorgeous!

What about replacing the mayo with the sammich spread and adding Old Bay; then just add garlic to the rest of your recipe?

Since "sammich spread" is either mayo or mustard and nothing else, and mustard would overwhelm the flavor of the crab, that leaves mayo.

:tap:

Do you dare come back and try to convince me that "salad dressing" is a sandwich spread?

I like making Crab Towers :yum:

I take a styrofoam cup and cut it to use as a mold... Stuff lump crab meat at the bottom, a layer of avocado in the middle and then another layer of the crab meat... Top it with old bay and rice vinegar...So Good & Healthy! If you want to get crazy, top it with some mango salsa instead of the vinegar....

I never heard of Old Bay seasoning until I moved to MD. I use it sometimes to humor my husband, but I like Creole seasoning a lot more. Regional tastes I guess.

Also Duke's Mayo is the the only top selling mayo without sugar. I never ever use another a mayo or "salad dressing".

WELL? How did it turn out?

It was absolutely delish! I used cream cheese, bit of mayo, bit of sour cream, dash of Worcestershire, Old Bay, parsley, asiago cheese, sharp white cheddar cheese, monterey jack, havarti, smoked cheddar, and a bit of pepper jack along with 3/4 of a pound of backfin crab. Put it in a dish, topped it with a bit more of the cheese mix and a shake or six more of Old Bay, tossed it into the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes and ended up with gastronomic heaven! Best I've ever made!

Many thanks for the suggesion of pepper jack migtig! That tip made the dip!!

That's what I love about this place...think a thought then read long enough and its answered without asking. :) A few posts up, reading the mayo/salad dressing input I thought I would ask if anyone used Duke's. I've never tried it, but I'm open to a taste test now. Nothing ventured nothing gained, right? Just for the record I'm a Kraft mayo user, never salad dressing.

You will never find a Southern home without Duke's. It's a different taste from any other mayo. I can find it at Shopper's Food Warehouse and Food Lion. Only get the yellow and black label jar. My husband is a MD born and raised and has totally been converted.
