When will my male dog lift his leg to pee?

My boy is almost 3 and he has never lifted his leg. My neighbor has a rottie and thinks that because she has no trees that's the reason her boy won't lift his leg. She's going to get him one of those fake hydrants or something thinking this may change him.

I don't understand. Why does she *need* him to lift his leg? People are strange.

SO is very worried about this.

Fiance is the one concerned! He wants his boy to be 'manly'!

Oh, my SO used to be concerned about my dog, too. I have a 4 y/o Aussie and he was almost two before he lifted his leg (we only have one other female dog). And even then it was only because I took him to the boardwalk and he saw a rottie life its leg. But sometimes, my Aussie still squats

What is it about men?! :lmao:

Like women, most really don't know why dogs do what they do? Men want dogs that are 'manly'. Women want dogs that are 'cute'. What is the difference, really?

Men think a dog lifting his leg is manly, women think dykes in mullets are manly. Men think little blondes with big boobs are cute, women think Chihuahua's in tutus are cute.

I dunno! I keep telling him not to be worried, but he is freaking out. I compare it to a boy toddler standing and aiming properly at the toilet. Then he calms down a little, but the next day, he's right back at it. LOL. GOtta love 'em!

:nono: Dont generalize. I wanted a dog that was SMART, not cute. I just so happened to find a smart one thats adorable and was super-adorable as a puppy

My dog is very manly...he likes to show off his junk...he just won't lift his leg outside!
And he was a very cute puppy, but overall, we got him for a guard dog, and chose this particular one because he's rare. Don't see white GS's every day.

:lmao:

Daylight guard dog. Night time is for Doberninjas. :yay: :roflmao:

SO is partial to GS....used to train them to work with the PD. so he wanted a GS. And we have never seen a white one around here. So we chose white. Didn't want the standard colors.
And yes, he is quite the sweetie...a big, bumbling darling. Until someone he doesn't know comes to the door. Or god forbid a strange dog saunters near our yard/house! Then you would think he was the devil from his bark! :yahoo:

A guard dog? White GSD's aren't rare.

He looks like a nice dog. :yay:
