Where Are Parents On Friday When Kids Are At The Mall

You're right! I heard that place is nice!

The mall has been like that for years on Fridays and Saturdays. I refuse to go there anymore after 6:00 on the weekend.

When we were younger, there was the skating rink, football games at White Plains Park and going to Pizza Hut afterwards, and of course the parking lot where the Sports Authority is now. We lived for cruising that parking lot. And of course there were the swamp parties...ah memories!

I only go to Waldorf if it's absolutely necessary. I do most of my shopping in Prince Frederick and St. Mary's Co. My Christmas shopping is done in Fredericksburg.

Why do parents allow their teenagers to go out?

What's wrong with keeping them at home and allowing a friend or two over? A good game of Scrabble and maybe a movie?

I did all those same things when I was younger. Did you grow up in Charles county? just curious.

The kids at the mall don't bother me in the least though. They are just being teens IMO. I haven't ever had a problem with any of them.

What about the Capital Clubhouse? Don't they have skating?

Yeah but If your not skating, they kick you out. They also, from what I heard, started having a cover charge just to get in the door during the weekends..... They had issues with kids just hanging out and causing trouble.

My husband and I were at St. Charles Towne Center on Friday night and the rift raft of young kids is unbelievable. I never remember as a teen ever being aloud to hang out and act the way those kids in that mall do... What is happening to Waldorf?
I was a mallrat from 1985 through 1988. :peace: It should've been called Ego Alley :lmao: The boys and the girls would dress in their coolest gear and just walk laps, checking each other out. We didn't cause any trouble and when 9:30 pm rolled around, we were at the movie theatre.

Promptly at 11:30, someone's parent was there to pick us up and deliver us safely home.

From what I understand, when I was a mall rat outside of Waldorf, kids my age in Waldorf were at the roller skating rink, which is no more. :frown:

there could be alot of things for them to do if parents would interact with their children a little, but instead they just let them run wild and then want to cry and complain when they get in trouble..... When you have children that is then your job to raise them not everyone elses. So teach them how to act or keep them HOME

I never went to the skating rink. My mother had a scanner and heard the cops being called there every weekend. She said I couldn't go there because that's where the bad kids hung out. :lmao:

I fully understand and feel the same way- it has just gotten completely out of hand. All of them act like rude little idiots, you surely are afraid to take your little ones there with you because you are afraid that if you accidentally bump into somebody your little one will see you get cut or shot!!!!

I was from 1978-1982. The main thing going on was who had the biggest hair and tightest jeans. We were  and didn't cause any trouble.

My kids will not be mall rats. The world has changed, and nastier things happen.

I know this is old, but I had bulletholes in my storefront, and I will keep my kids away from unknown elements:
