My kids take swim lessons but they're during the week, at Hickory Hills. They will be having swim lessons in this community (for anyone/everyone) until the last week in July and they're GREAT!!

If you want to contact info, call the program coordinator at 301-863-8271

My kids just took lessons at Thomas Stone in Waldorf. We live in Northern St. Mary's, so going to Waldorf or LaPlata is closer than Great Mills, plus the Charles County pools offer classes in the evening, which I don't believe GM does. They also have weekend classes.

Look up the Charles County Parks and Rec website (it's too late at night for me to do it for you). They have pools at Thomas Stone, LaPlata, Northpoint, Lackey and McDonough High Schools. NP and Lackey are indoor, so they do lessons year round.

My kids' teacher was very good with the kids, really patient and understanding of the kids' different abilities and he was also :hot: I'd recommend him anytime.

Are swimming lessons something that you have to take long term or can your child just do like a day class?
I have a 5 year old that swims like a fish, loves diving boards, jumping, etc..But $$ is tight.

Why would you want to take him to swim class if he can already swim?

Valid question but
maybe to improve technique, swimming time or to get into competetive swimming. Or learn some new dives?
When I was little I taught myself to swim doggy paddle and now I mostly prefer breast stroke. I can swim far but I could do with some pointers on front stroke I can do it although a pro would probably laugh at me.!

He said the child could "swim like a fish" Sounds like he's not worried about skill level.

Thank you.. that is exactly what I meant. Sorry I should have been a little more clear. What I was saying is she loves it. If your child shows interest in something, say guitar, wouldnt you get them lessons, or let Bubba down the street tell them how to play? Same with lessons, she is showing a interest...a PROFESSIONAL (not me) should teach her the right way to swim.:howdy:

Town Creek Pool offers swimming lessons through out the summer. Also, if you have access to the base, Solomon Annex gives lessons.
