Where Have All The Flags Gone?><?

As I was going to work this afternoon I noticed something that I suprisingly didnt notice before. The next time you go out driving anywhere take a look at peoples cars, boats, houses, ect...and see if you notice an American flag. Now remember back when the whole 9/11 thing happened, people had flags EVERYWHERE. I even remember those little flags that everyone had on their car windows. My question is, Where have all the flags gone? I know some people are patriotic and show off their American flag and yet others are still patriotic and dont need to show off an American flag. BUT COME ON!! Im not saying that we need to show off our American flags. What I am saying is that, why were we so quick to jump on the politically correct bandwagon in buying 50 American flags right after 9/11 if we are not going show it NOW or in the FUTURE. This just tells me that we either dont care about 9/11 or our lives are so busy that we dont even think about it. To be honest I didnt think about this until today.

SORRY but I just had to vent this all out!

Old Glory is still flying on my front porch. Thanks for the reminder, though. I've been meaning to put a new static flag on my car window. I just dug one out this morning.

I took mine down for winter.

Actually I took it down for Hurricane season, and I haven't put it back out yet. It will reappear in the spring. I need a new flag pole though. Mine's getting a bit splintery.

As for the flags on all the cars and stuff, I don't know. I still have my flag decal right behind my noggin in the truck - (which was actually there before 9-11). Maybe it's just that people have bought new cars between then and now, and haven't bothered to replace Old Glory.

I don't think Americans are any less patriotic. But that the majority of those displaying old glory in the months following 9/11 where simply on the bandwagon. Now that the "flag fad" has died out, that same majority has returned to pre-9/11 displaying.

Now I do believe that the country as a whole is more patriotic than we were on 9/10...just that the fad has died out...kinda the same way those Calvin peeing stickers have...

Hopefully it wont take an act of terror to start another flag fad. Lordy, I hope it won't.

If Bin Laden is caught this spring or summer, expect to see flags.

I'm still seeing a lack in flags as opposed to the times of 9/11. I don't think this makes us less patriotic but it does show how quick our attention spans flee.

I saw one the other day...Calvin was wearing a T-Shirt that said "USA", and he was peeing on the word "Osama".

Now I'm all about loving my country, but that is just trashy.

I saw a Miata last week with those magnetic flag/ribbons lined up and down both doors and across the trunk. :eek:verkill:

You'll always see one on my Harley. Just replaced the faded one this spring. :patriot:

What BigSlam said, I see more ribbons on cars now and not flags. When I go to N.C. near Wins-Salem, I see all kinds of flags and there isn't even a base nearby. Those are some :patriot: people. I have 2 little flags in my little yard.

As some of you may know...

USA Hockey will be traveling to Austria next month to begin World Cup Hockey competition for 2005.

AND as some of you may know, I am in Canada. Also, some of you may know that USA is playing CANADA in two exhibition games prior to going to Austria.

I bought 10 tickets at $70 a piece to the first exhibition game. I also ordered a $180 USA hockey Jersey and have emailed the USA Hockey team Assistant GM to get info on their practice schedule, autograph opportunities and to let them know that they will have a few US supporters among a see of red. And I did recieve a very pleasant reply back from him explaining they're happiness to learn of some US support at the game.

As far as I know there are 13 of us going. Though I know of only 3 that have the balls to be SHOWING support for the US among a sold out crowd of 10,000 Canadiens. i have two weeks to badger the chit out of the rest of them until they cave, and paint they're faces red, white and blue.

Oh yea, I'll be 6 rows off the ice at the game.

I was beginning to ask why people kept theirs on their cars. Most were faded, shredded or tacky looking. Who wants a polypropylene faded flag slapping from their rear window? I agee with the observation that the bandwagon jumpers have gone apesh!t over the magnetic ribbons that mean nothing to real patriots!

I have 2 American Flag decals on the rear window of my PT Cruiser, and if I had a way to spotlight the real flag I'd be flying her 24/7 at home. I agree, not enough people are sticking with it, and it's odd we see that around here. Most folks here are making their living either directly or indirectly from the Government. (Yes, I'm saying some folks are very mercenary in placing their loyalties).

The September 11th attacks had me busting my tail for 3 years, finding and expediting parts to the front, often robbing production lines to support our active folks. I became a foaming-at-the-mouth rabid Republican, a very strong supporter of President Bush, enough so that most Democrats I know decided politics was a sore subject with me, and avoided talking about that subject around me. My point here is that I consider myself a strong patriot, and I'm (possibly overly) proud of it.
