Where on Branch Ave. is it 25 mph?

Geez. I got a ticket in the mail from metro police saying I was doing 36 in a 25 mph zone. It was caught on a camera. For the life of me, I don't know of anywhere on that whole busy road that is 25 mph. I know up near the northern end it drops to 35. On the ticket it says it occurred in the 1900 block Branch Ave. SE n/b. Does anyone know whereabouts that is?

I don't drive up that way very often. I don't want to make the same mistake twice though. The ticket is $92. Ouch.

Thanks.

Google the address, view street view, spin the look angle 180 and you will find the speed limit sign tucked away behind a pole and partially blocked by foliage.

I'm pretty sure that is right before Branch intersects Penn. Ave in the District. Going downhill at non rush hour times you have to ride the brakes to stay under 25MPH where that money maker is placed.

I have taken that way before when I've had to go to the WNY for meetings and they do have signs that say the speed limit is photo enforced.

Thank you all. I don't know why I didn't think about googling it. I really don't know DC well at all. Just trying to figure out where I am going is hard enough without reading every sign along the way. I definitely missed this one unfortunately.

$92 is so extreme! These photo tickets are just moneymakers. My daughter got a ticket last week in Mont Cty for $75 for not fully coming to a stop at a right turn (the light was just turning color). She has only gotten 1 parking ticket and never been in an accident; and she is 28. I know she feels your pain, and frustration. And, so much reckless driving goes right under the radar, so to speak! Stupid, commie traffic cams! Well, between the two of you, that is $167, right there. Sheesh!

If you can "see" a different posted speed limit sign other than 25 mph in the area you received the infraction, fight it.

Across the Potomac, Virginia's getting really good about hiding speed limit signs. Saw one the other day where the flashing school zone speed limit sign was in the middle of a parking lot at a gas station across the street. Seriously?

If you go on google streetview to 1870 Branch Ave SE and turn inbound, you can see the 25mph sign pinned slightly crooked to a light-pole.

It is in that residential area just before you get to Pennsylvania Ave.

There ya go. Googled 1900 Branch Avenue, went to street view, the 25 MPH sign was in the first spot it dropped me.

Here's the bugger that probably snapped your photo.

What a nice convenient location. I am surprised there aren't more midnight "curb drivers" ACCIDENTLY driving over the curb, just enough to impact that strange box that sits way too close to the street.

I feel your pain too. I just got a camera ticket from DC, 2500 block of Naylor Road SE - $92.00. I was on my way to work and take Naylor Road as a shortcut. Google Maps must not have an updated street view because I couldn't find the camera.
