We're looking to buy a sectional couch, but it seems as if the choices are slim in the Pax area. Where is a good place to shop for this within an hour of here? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

We used Value City in Waldorf and had no problems with service or delivery. However, after purchasing our couches, I looked around in Kincaid Furniture (by TJ Maxx in Waldorf) and they had some that I liked more that were similarly priced (and probably better quality too).

Online stores are cheaper, have free shipping and no tax. I found what I liked at Thompsons and ordered it online when they refused to budge on their price. They were $600 higher.

LazyBoy furniture in Waldorf. Best sofas around! They deliver too.

Thompson's is always having some sort of made up "sale" to get of their inventory. Liquidation Sale, Retirement Sale, Disposal Sale, Remodeling Sale...:killingme Like no one is ever going to catch onto their marketing tactics.

Are you serious? Within an hour from here? You really can't find a place to buy a couch within an hour from here?

Annapolis has a LazyBoy store, Jennifer convertibles, Haverty's, etc. The furniture stores down here all smell like mold and/or old people and they are overpriced.

In Waldorf: Vlaue City, Roomstore (kinda expensive), Regency
Big Lots in the park has some stuff, I just got a sectional from Value City, and love it and thought it was cheap, saw the same one at Big Lots 200 bucks cheaper, but an ugly color....
Thompsons is good, but expensive sometimes, who knows with their going out of business sale...
theres one on great mills road, and theres another in waldorf, I want to say they are both Raleys...
Sometimes BJ's or Sam's Club has stuff like that..just gotta find the right one at the right time

Seriously? Yes I'm serious. It's not as if I asked some ridiculous question. Not sure why you are even responding if you are not posting anything helpful. FYI we just moved to the area and I'd rather not waste every day trying to find a good furniture store if I can help it, especially with 2 small children. We've already looked at the ones in the area, nothing good.

Thanks to all of the helpful responses!! My husband and I appreciate it. Looks like we'll start in Waldorf and see what we can find. We're new here so all of this information is great!

If you are looking for quality, I would stay away from England furniture (the brand). We bought a pricey sectional through Raley's in Lexington Park about 2 years ago and have had to sew the seam on the corner piece once or twice already and it needs it again. Also, I didn't realize when we were buying it that the individual sections are not finished on the sides so they can not be separated to use individually if we want to just move things around or when we move to our next home. If you are looking for quality, I would try Haverty's (Annapolis or Bowie), or maybe La-z-boy. Good luck in your hunt.

Regency furniture in waldorf ...just look around and they order it and deliver it..generally pretty darn quick. My parents have ordered quite a bit from there.

Macy's at the Waldorf mall has a home furnishings center. You can look online to see if there's anything you like and I think it will tell you if Waldorf has it on the floor.

We bought two within the last couple of years for two different big rooms in our house, one from North Carolina furniture, in King George, Va, and the other one came from Trivets Furniture in Fredericksburg, VA. Very happy with the customer service we received from both places, and the prices as well. As I recall both were in stock with no wait for a special order, but depends on what you are looking for..

They're out to get us

I've noticed this too. But I don't know if the point is that you can mix and match once you purchase...I think the point is you can get the type of couch that you want with the various sections without them having to create a bunch of couch varieties.

I bought a couple of pieces of furniture from Value City that I've been happy with, but no couches.

We bought a fairly inexpensive set at Marlo's and it is standing up to the kids and animals well. We recommend leather with kids and animals. :lmao:

definitely!! Our leather couch still looks brand new after 5 years, kids and a dog - it's been spilled on, peed on (bad place to change a diaper) colored on, you name it... and it wasn't expensive, we got it in Florida at Rooms to Go - cheapest one they had I think and it has been great.

We actually just bought a big sectional at Thompson's (that's the store in Hollywood, right?) and we are very pleased with it. They came down in price for us after a bit of haggling - $500+ cheaper than any website had it listed, exact model and all. Guess they really wanted a sale that day, they tried to be firm but I told them to have a nice day and started to walk out of the door - then they came and told me that if paid for the sectional right then and there, they would do it for $200 less than the price I had first asked for. We did have them order us one instead of taking the one at the store - and they were fine with that. Took a bit for it to come in - but no musty smell  No problems with delivery (and it was no small feat getting that monster down to the basement/rec room!) and despite some of the stuff I've heard about them, I'd recommend them to anyone based on our experience with them
