Where to buy cherry wood.

I have been trying to search for a place that sells cherry wood. Hardware stores only sell poplar, oak, and maple. I didn't check 84 lumber yet, but I don't think they sell cherry either. Any help would be appreciated.

Charlotte Hall Lumber #s in the book.

If rough cut is ok, go to one of the many Amish lumber mills. If they don't have it, they may know who will.

Got to watch out when you buy from the Amish. Air dryed vs. kiln dried. Unless you have a moisture meter and can make sure you've got down to at least 6% moisture level, don't buy air dryed. It will end up splitting on you. Buy kiln dried if you can get it.

Thanks for the help! I found some places but have never been to any of them before:

Hickman's lumber
Dean Lumber and Supply
Chopp and Company
Goad Lumber Co.
Charlotte Hall Lumber
Calver Lumber
Maryland Selects Hardwoods

I am trying to do a woodworking project (starter). I think that rough cuts might be too much work and I am not familiar with the process of finishing the wood to commercial grade yet.

Suggestion: Don't go with expensive hardwoods if you're just starting out. Do your project with pine or even oak. Cheaper than cherry. Cherry is very expensive for a starter project. I started woodworking about 20 years ago and I started with oak and made many mistakes. Expensive mistakes. Still make mistakes, but not real expensive ones.
